middleofthemessBloomington, INAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Helpful for the overcommitted.April 16, 2014middleofthemessBloomington, INAge: 35-44Gender: femaleThis book would be excellent for a person with a Type A personality who finds herself spinning too many plates. This book was not for me. Just reading it gave me anxiety. I don't like taking on too much in my life, and even reading about her life, after she cut back on things, made me feel stressed. Practical tips and great goal setting plans, though.

I was excited when I got the opportunity to receive a free copy of this book to review because I have been following Crystal's blog for several years, and she always has great tips, so I knew that her book would be helpful as well. She talked so well about how we as women feel the pressure to do it all, and then we end up overwhelming ourselves because we have so much on our plates. The book is full of practical tips on how to set goals that are realistic and achievable as well as how to be more disciplined to get it done. She uses personal stories on how she gets things done, and how she knows when she needs to say no to something. She talks about setting priorities which has been something that I have realized recently is so important. I love how she talks about figuring out what is really important and doing those things instead of overwhelming ourselves with to many things that we think we are supposed to be doing. I took away from the book that if I want to do things well I need to make sure that I am not committing myself to too many things, and especially to too many things that are not important just because I think that it is what I am supposed to be doing. If you are looking for practical tips on how to maximize your time and be intentional with your life, I think you would love this book. Crystal is down to earth and so real, and the book reads as if you are chatting with a good friend over coffee.
Joanie5 Stars Out Of 5February 10, 2014JoanieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Money Saving Mom is one of my favorite blogs, so getting the opportunity to review Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine was exciting! In the book she includes 10 chapters that incorporate "9 simple strategies to stress less, sleep more, and restore your passion for life." Every aspect of your life that you may struggle with is covered. Each chapter took me about 30 minutes to read. The book is interactive. You can write your goals right in the book.
I felt that this book gave me a renewed energy and passion for getting back to the things that matter. I had a hard time putting it down. In fact, I am re-reading it now. I love that most of the suggestions in the book are practical. I can take what Crystal suggests and apply it to my own life in my own way. Rarely do I mark in books, but I could not stop myself from underlining things that stood out to me.
My favorite chapter was on giving and making a difference. I have often thought there is nothing I can do because of limited budgets, time, etc. I certainly learned differently! I highly recommend Say Goodbye to Survival Mode if you are just struggling through your days wondering when things will get better. It's time to take action with your life!
This book was provided for me by BookLook. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are mine.

As I read the scenarios, I could have easily substituted my name into many of their stories.
Realizing that I'm not alone in survival mode, I found the 9 simple strategies a way through the dark tunnel into a stress-free, manageable lifestyle. You'll love this book!
Mona965 Stars Out Of 5Go From Surviving to ThrivingJanuary 23, 2014Mona96Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I recently read this book and absolutely loved it! I've been a follower of MoneySavingMom.com for several years now. Crystal is very down to earth and she speaks from experience. Her strategies are simple yet effective. Each chapter has a goal and a strategy to to reach that goal. At the end of the chapter are questions to ask yourself to make it personal and help you set your own goals. I read this book through once and now I'm going back through it and working towards the ultimate goal of thriving instead of surviving. The most important thing I've done so far is to make a schedule and make sleep a priority. Realizing how much time I have in a day and seeing how much I can get done if I just focus and not follow rabbit trails has been amazing! Anyone who feels like they are struggling to get through each day needs to read this book!
