So this story is supposed to be a lot like the story of Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan. If you are familiar with the story you can see the parallels and enjoy it from that angle. I personally have only watched parts of it, but my kids (5-12) loved it and thought that it was funny. The case cover compares it to Little Rascals, so that speaks to the antics of the movie.
Now my children actually know the story Pilgrims Progress as it was discussed throughout several lessons in their BJU press 5th grade Literature. Then I had purchased a full copy of the book. So they may have had more enjoyment with the movie based on the fact they were able to connect to it from the reading.
This clearly was a low budget film, but I didn't feel that was a major distraction. And my kids thought it was cool that basically it was 5 small children in the movie.
this movie is adorable! i wanted to order something funny and clean for the kids. this movie fits the bill! great musical score, wonderful little actors and Christian messege. the only complaint i have is that it is a bit intense... but mild compared to to so called "kids"movies today. all of our kids plus their friends loved it! great for any age.
Cons: While I respect others opinions that this was a great movie, the kids and I turned it off at about 30 mins. It was odd. I think it was a great home project. I got a bit ill from the video production movement. The all kids cast, did great for what they had to work with...but not something I will spend my time watching (unless it was my kids at the local theater). I don't think my kids got the message that was portrayed either. I would return it if I could.
Pros: was a creative idea and the producer should get a high five.
Everyone in our family loves this movie, from 3 years old to 8 year old, as well as my husband and I! Its adventurous, suspenseful, funny, and very well acted by the children. Great music and scenery. Excellent Christian family film.
