Amanda BIowaAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Classic Veggie GoodnessMarch 14, 2012Amanda BIowaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In my opinion, you're never too old for VeggieTales. Which is why I bought this DVD as much for myself as for the kids in my house. (I make sure that our Veggie collection stays up-to-date. ;) ) As with all VeggieTales movies, this one is fun and heartwarming, with a message that applies to kids and adults alike.
The first short show of this installment, "Lenny and the Lost Birthday", captures all the angst of a young child who believes his birthday has been forgotten. Told in classic Bob-as-the-narrator rhyme, this little tale lets children know that God still remembers us even when we feel forgotten by everyone else.
The silly song features a hilarious return of everyone's favorite Veggie pop group "Boyz in the Sink", now abbreviated as "B.I.T.S". (Perhaps playing off of the Christian rap group "Grits"?) The adorable Veggie band of Larry, Junior, Mr. Lunt and Jimmy Gourd make a resurgence of the hip hop style that they began in "A Mess Down in Egypt". "Bubble Rap", the Boyz's third video appearance, has the look and feel of a modern hip hop music video, complete with a cameo appearance by the loveable caterpillar, Khalil, known here by his rap name "K-Lil'-DittyDo". (Oh, and let's not forget the autotune.) Created once again by the irreplaceable Mike Nawrocki, this silly song became an immediate addition to my long list of favorites and is, I think, one of the best that Big Idea has dished out in a while.
Arriving at the main event, we meet Robin Good and his hysterical band of fund-raising buddies. Once again taking on the role of a classic hero, Larry teaches several lessons throughout the course of this episode. The main theme, of course, is that no hurt is too big for God, but the lesson doesn't stop there. Through his bravery and courage, Larry (or Robin) also shows that it's important to always do the right thing and stand for God even when you're standing alone. His compassion and unrelenting desire to quietly "fight" for the good of the people even inspires the good-hearted but fearful sheriff (played by Bob the Tomato) to finally stand up to the selfish "Prince of Ham", thus risking his own freedom to help Robin. The story takes a clever John Bunyan turn by implementing "the dungeon of despair", throwing in a deeper understanding of hurt and hopelessness while still keeping things light and not too serious for the kids.
All that said, I'd encourage you to make "Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry-Men" an addition to your plate of Veggies. Just remember ... God loves you very much! And there's no hurt too big for Him to handle. -

This is a great story of doing the right thing, even if everyone else is doing the wrong thing. Also, Robin showed mercy when his friends saw their wrong and was caught. Definitely a good movie, well worth your money.
