We are just over halfway finished with this study in our Adult Sunday School class. When I first announced that we were going to spend a few weeks on the Reformation it met with a few yawns. But many of those who were at first reluctant have now come and expressed how interesting this in fact is. The DVD and the manuals that come on the disc are very well done. There are many options to choose from for the study. It may be as brief as 6 weeks or as long as the group wants to keep it going. We have found two weeks on each lesson is a fair speed (1 week for an introduction and video and the next week the accompanying bible study). It is certainly an overview, not in depth look at each reformer presented. But for most who are largely unaware of what the Reformation was about this is an excellent choice. In fact, once we finish it in our Adult class, the teen class is planning on going through it. I normally don't write reviews, but I do rely on the reviews others have written. So I thought it worth the effort to say I highly recommend this DVD.

I am a physician by training but have had an intense interest in the Reformation for many years. I found the Reformation Overview to provide me with great insight into the great reformers. In my church we do not have paid clergy. I was a Sunday School teacher a few years ago and the manual for our New Testament Study had not arrived. I gave a lesson instead on the Reformation and used the John Wycliffe tape as part of my lesson. The class members were incredibly impressed learning about Wycliffe for the first time. All of the DVD's are very well done. Wm Tyndale, Luther, Calvin and Zwingli, Hus and the Anabaptists. The study materials are also superb. Each of the six programs are divided into 1) Teacher background and information, 2)Discussion questions and 3) Optional Bible Study. Your money will be well spend if you choose to invest in the Reformation Overview. I would also suggest consideration of the full length John Wycliffe, God's Outlaw William Tyndale, John Hus, Martine Luther and the Anabaptists. Great teaching tool for family members.

Enjoyed the overview, and the 30 minute videos were interesting. I do wish that it included something on John Knox, the great reformer of Scotland. In addition, the section on John Calvin was very brief, being coupled with Ulrich Zwingli. It had a whole section devoted to the Anabaptists, which would have been okay if they had not excluded Knox. Still, it was enjoyable. BTW, my copy did not have any bulletin inserts.
