This book gives some great advice on practical information on how to recover from all kinds of losses--from death and divorce, to losing jobs, etc. Advice is from a trained grief and trauma counselor--and obviously from a Christian perspective. Some chapter headings include: "Losses we never considered", "saying goodbye", "helping others through their losses", and "will my life ever be the same". This is an excellent book for both the person in grief, and the friend or family member who truly desires to understand what the grieving person is going through. Guidelines on what to say and what NOT to say are very helpful for those of us who do not know what to say.

Several years ago, I facilitated 3 different groups using this book as a study guide! What wonderful healing I witnessed in a wide variety of women/heartaches. Now I have placed these books into two more women's hands with confidence, because I anticipate watching their sorrow turn to joy...once they get the right perspective and the right tools!

Recovering from the Losses of Life is excellent. We used it as our text and discussion material for three grief groups in our church. Everyone is so impressed with the content, and with how it revealed losses in their lives that they had not recognized as such, nor grieved over. It is very helpful in equipping people to be prepared to deal with losses before they occur, and for helping people work through their grief after the fact. The book is especially helpful in a format where people can express their feelings and experiences, since this is a vital part of working through grief towards recovery from losses. Easy to read, yet worthwhile in content. Great price, too!

This book helps the reader to deal with grief in situations that are often not recognized as losses, such as moving from one area to another, job changes, etc. I have bought and given away two of these books to people who were very grateful to receive them.

This book is just what you need when you don't know what to do to help a friend who is going through some hard times especially when he/she is experiencing grief. I recommend this book because it answers the "whys", "what to pray" and "how to help/what to do" type questions. I've referred back to it several times to help my friends. Dr. Wright knows what he's talking about.
