Just finished, while partially hanging up Christmas decor, listening to "At the Back of the North Wind" — George MacDonald (FOTF Radio Theater, 2005) - A children's fantasy from Victorian England about dying that influenced C.S.Lewis and Mark Twain. Is the fragile boy feverish or did he find the far country? This absorbing two hours felt only an hour. I had to stop decorating and just sat entranced by the skill of these voice actors with their British accents. Rating: Two hankies. A keeper.

We listened to this during a long car trip. Our teenagers loved the story, and it set up some great discussions about the Bible and heaven. Younger children, while not grasping the entire story, will enjoy the characters and the action. I love George MacDonald's stories. The only problem with this one was the portrayal of the whiny mom...that's cause I'm the mom, and one of my mantras is "shine, not whine"!

This is a great value! I'll be lending it out to trustworthy friends who'll return it, 'cause we'll listen to this one again a few years down the road.

Our family enjoyed this audio book on a long car journey. Our kids are 8, 10 and 12. My husband and I enjoyed listening to the story with them. It is a beautiful story.

This radio theater was incredible! It was a very faithful adaptation of the book which I had read years ago. My 9, 12, and 13 year old son and daughters thoroughly enjoyed it. Not to give too much away, the story is a Christian allegory and somewhat of a fairytale by George McDonald who was C.S. Lewis' inspiration for the Narnia Chronicles. The actors are wonderful and the events unfold quickly. We listened to the story while driving around just during the day. The chapters are short so even a trip down to the grocery store could be enjoyed by listening to one chapter on the way there. Definitely listen to this one! It will touch your heart and open up doors to talk to your kiddos about God and trusting in Him.

I heard a chapter of this on my radio one morning when I was going to see a friend and I enjoyed it so much that when I returned home I ordered it so I could hear the complete story.
