TrenchMommyUSAAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5June 30, 2010TrenchMommyUSAAge: 25-34Gender: femaleCarolyn McCulley has written an eloquent and comprehensive, yet straight-forward and simply-stated book on how the feminist movement has altered womanhood and the role that women have in our culture today. This book is both informative as well as challenging. I greatly enjoyed how Carolyn would share the background of the feminist movement and how it has impacted a specific aspect of womanhood before addressing the Biblical side of that issue. This book is not another "Bible thumping message", but rather a probing look into how the feminist movement disconnected from the radical design of God for women. Carolyn's approach is gentle, knowledgeable, sensitive, respectful, and simple. I appreciated that she is not another "old woman" passing on tradition, but rather a highly studied student of this topic from both sides of the issue. She does not merely write from a stereotypical conservative view point, but one based solidly on Scripture. Radical Womanhood is 8 chapters long and addresses a thorough overview of the feminist movement, what our problem really is, what the rolls of both men and woman are, how the movement has impacted life across the spectrum, and much more. This book is incredibly empowering and helps you understand the background to various beliefs about the process and history of feminism. Each chapter is followed by a short personal story of a woman that illustrates the message talked about in the previous pages. They bring a sense of community to this book as you read about the struggles and victories of other woman grappling with the same things you may be wrestling through. You gain an emotional and real-life view of Biblical principles being lived out in the real world. This is not your "be-a-doormat-and-serve-your-husband-without-question" book, this is a call to be Radical Women!

Jami5 Stars Out Of 5March 22, 2010JamiThis is an excellent MUST READ for all women. It is written from the perspective of an ex-Feminist and she offers an insightful look into Feminism. She takes you through the historical role that feminism has played and how this has affected us in the modern day. She presents what it means to live out biblical womanhood in a modern feminist world. GREAT BOOK! Highly recommended! This is a very conservative look at feminism today.

Cindy5 Stars Out Of 5October 12, 2009CindyKnowing that the author considered her self a recovering feminist I was eager to begin the book. From page one I was hooked. She covers difficult and controversial material very seriously while maintaining a level of readability for any woman. In my opinion she takes on many opponents in presenting the material contained in Radical Womanhood, but even more than that she does it as a single woman! This I found refreshing and captivating. As she states fact, quotes scripture and offers suggestions, she does so in a very straightforward and yet non threatening manner. She practices humility and grace. As a mother of three and a grandmother of two I have oft been offended by the advice and commentary of single women. Not so with Carolyn McCulley she is candid and transparent. Never once does she try to act as if she has been there in any way other than as a friend, helper, and counselor. This humility is charming and engaging, encouraging you to read more. From Dented Femininity to Feminine Faith she leads you on a journey from the self centered arrogance of a young college woman who has all the answers and offends others with this knowledge. To a disillusioned feminist who cant see that her feminist identity has achieved anything other than a growing dislike of men. After all Men are Scum
