This is a 40 day devotional where the author takes you through different passages of scripture each day and gives you journaling prompts.

I loved this book! I think you could easily re-read it over and over and get new information from it each time. I really appreciated that Johnson gave a background to the scripture each day. This allowed for context and often a deeper understanding the words written.

This book could easily be done with a spouse, you could each read it separately and then discuss what you felt you were learning. I would highly suggest reading this book!

Are you wanting a change in your prayer life? To incorporate Scriptures while you pray? Pray the Scriptures by Kevin Johnson will help you.

This is a 40-day prayer adventure will invigorate your prayer life and draw closer to God as you read the Scriptures and then pray them back to God. Kevin Johnson will help you with praying the Scriptures and then apply them to your life.

Each day starts with a short devotional, then Bible verses to go with the topic of the day, a prayer starter phrase, and some discussion questions. The Bibles verses are taken from various translations. You can easily use your preferred Bible version if you wish.

This can be done in a small group setting. The questions at the end could prompt good, open discussions and a time of praying for each other.

For those who have never prayed like this before, this book would be a great guide. For those who have been praying the Scriptures for a while, this would also be valuable. A fresh way to pray and draw closer to God. This would be the start of an deeper prayer time with God...

I received this book for free from Bethany House Publishers in return for my honest review.

Well written, but a bit too dry for me

Written to follow the same concept as his first book Pray the Scriptures Bible, the author takes the concept of praying about and through certain Bible passages. Forty different scriptures are used for each day. A small devotion on the authors thoughts begins the chapter. The next part is a verse, followed by questions with space for answers. It ends with a section called Reflect + Pray + Discuss with space for answers. The author is trying to get the reader to pray using scripture and to become so use to praying that it becomes an every day, every moment thought.

The idea behind this concept is sound. If used properly the reader will become in the habit of praying more and reflecting more on what is read in the scriptures. The book was well written and I liked the idea, but some of the sections were a bit dry. The book would work well in place of a devotional.

I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
