4.5 stars. Pilgrim's Progress is one of my favorite books (guess that makes me a little bias) and this kid's version did not disappoint. I'm reading it to my 4-year-old and she always asks for "1 more chapter". I think it's a bit over her head, my guess is 7 to 13 is the ideal range, but she still enjoys it and is getting some concepts. At her age, it's a little scary in certain sections so keep that in mind. It uses older English (I don't know the right term, not King James style but something British and aristocratic sounding) but that hasn't been an issue. I'll occasionally stop and explain a word. Took off 1/2 star for the artwork which needs some improvement. It has some black and white sketches throughout but nothing that impresses. Some great artwork would go a long way to engage my older daughter who loves pictures.

This is a fantastic book. I have read it aloud to my kids a few times over the years. She sticks very faithfully to the original but putting it in words for younger people to understand. The great teachings and wisdom is still present. My kids have enjoyed it every time we read it. We have gone on to Pilgrim's Progress original. As well as read Christiana's story.

This is one of the best books to do as a read aloud and to add to your home library. My daughter has started re-reading it on her own now as well.

    Very well done.

Yes, Christian's mother is in heaven and is mentioned a few times. But his love for the king always outshines that as well. And instead of fighting Appolyon he does fight "self" which is probably more in line for children.

Worth buying and adding to your library.

I read this aloud to my daughter and was immediately drawn in. I've never read Pilgrim's Progress, so this was new for both of us. It's great for discussion about our walk with God. I'm looking forward to reading it again.

This book is a great spin on the classic ideal for a middle school reader.
