Editorial Reviews

“Wow...when I sat down to read this book, I thought I would buzz through a few chapters to get the feel of it. To my delight I have gobbled up every word, breathed deeply at every question, and paused to take in God's goodness. This book is phenomenal and I cannot wait to take the ladies in my ministry through it.”
Lisa Pacheco, women's ministry director, Calvary Chapel, Oceanside, California

When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts ministered to me from the very first page. As a woman who has been a leader of a women's ministry for over five years, I thought I was only reading for the women in my ministry. The fact of the matter is this book ministered to me in so many areas of my own life. I know without a shadow of a doubt that every woman who reads it will be blessed. Through these pages, I am truly inspired that my biggest storm will end up becoming my greatest victory!
—Terri Smalls, Powerful Praying Women Ministry, Charlotte, North Carolina

“I love, love, love this book! I can't wait to share it with the many women at our church that need to read this! Thank you Cindi, for once again giving us a resource to help us heal!”
Deb Sagisser, Women's Ministry Director, Hope Church, Oakdale, Minnesota

“Cindi McMenamin has written an important work. There are too many women who miss the victory Christ offers through His healing love. Cindi’s book gives direction, hope, and practical advice. I plan to use this text in my ministry.”
—Debbie Patrick, Mount Airy Bible Church

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have been ministering to women for more than 20 years as a pastor's wife, mother, national speaker and author of eleven books. It is my passion to help women find strength for the soul through deeper intimacy with Christ.

What was your motivation behind this project?  For years I've seen two kinds of women: Those who are stuck from unresolved hurts in their lives; and those who surrender those hurts to God, grow through them and find their purpose from their pain. I want to help all women move beyond that place where they are stuck and focused on self and into a place of fulfillment and joy, where they are serving others.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  By reading this book, and working through the thought questions at the end of each chapter, my hope is that women will gain a greater understanding of their purpose in life, experience improved relationships with others, and become women who invest in the lives of others by meeting them in the place where they once were wounded, themselves.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  First of all, I realized the pain in my life really pales in comparison to what some women have experienced. And I learned that as devastating as some women's stories are, their deliverance and God's transformation of their lives in spite of that pain is truly remarkable. I also realized there were hurts in my own life that I was still being affected by because I hadn't yet surrendered them to God. I took the 'self assessment test in the back of the book and realized God needed to work on me as I wrote it...what He showed me, I showed others through what I wrote.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I grew up on the writings of Elisabeth Elliot, Cynthia Heald, Lee Ezell. Today, my author/friends Elizabeth George, Elyse Fitzpatrick, Tricia McCary Rhodes continue to influence me through their writings. I have also been greatly influenced by the works of Henry Blackaby, John Ortberg, Robert Jeffress, and Francis Chan. I was so impacted recently by Paul E. Miller's "A Praying Life."

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I write what God and a number of spiritual mentors teach me. Prayerfully, I will never stop writing because I will never stop learning.
