booksbystephWIAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Perfect for Daughter/Mother BondingJuly 31, 2013booksbystephWIAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Great devotional for the teenage girl. Mothers may want to read this with their daughters. Together, you can talk about that day's topic on a more personal level.
While you can read this book on each specific day, you can also flip to days that coincide with anything happening in your life you need guidance with. The Index gives the title of each topic for each day so you can easily find a specific topic.
Each day starts with a real life story and sag ways into the Biblical meaning of it. At the end of each day is an Action Step, so it would be best to read this devotional in the morning. The Action Step allows you to put what you read into action.
Still, when I imagine this devotional, I see a mother and daughter reading and discussing before bedtime. Intimate time the two of you can share together. You can always do the Action Step the following day.
Until next time, live life one page at a time! -
SoaringEagleUSAGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good devotional for older teen girlsAugust 25, 2013SoaringEagleUSAGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Since I have a daughter who's a tween, I've been looking at books that are geared toward teens. I want to be somewhat ready for when we reach that time.
A person's spiritual growth is an important part of their life and this devotional book for teens will help a teenager grow in her faith. The One Year Devos for Teen Girls is written by Dannah Gresh and Suzy Weibel.
There are 365 devotional readings. It doesn't matter when you start your readings, just as long as you read them. Each devo starts out with a Bible verse. I'd recommend that you try and meditate on that verse throughout the day, maybe even memorize it. Then there's a short reading that is related to the verse that you just read. There is also an action step at the end. This helps your teen daughter apply what she just read to her life.
I enjoyed reading some of the devotions. They are interesting and relevant to today's teen girl. Each month they write about a different issue. Some of the topics are about prayer, helping others (volunteering), friends, making decisions, and other issues/topics.
I will definitely be keeping this book to give to my daughter in a few years.
Dannah Gresh has written many other books and she has a website called PureFreedom.
I received this book for free from Tyndale House Publishers in return for my honest review. -
tammycookblogsbooks4 Stars Out Of 5The One Year Devos for Teen GirlsAugust 14, 2013tammycookblogsbooksMy 12, 15, and 17 year old daughters have been reading the devotions in this book here and there since I received it about a month ago. They are enjoying it. Once school starts we will be reading it in the morning before everyone heads out the door.
The language of this devotional is simple, which is a good thing. A teenager is not going to take time to re-read a paragraph to figure out what it is saying. Each daily reading starts with a Bible verse. A devotional relating to the Bible verse follows. Last is what's called an "Action Step", something to do that relates to what was just read.
I also enjoyed reading through the devotionals, like my daughters have been. I think this book is one great way to get God's word into your daughter's life.
I received a free copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for my honest review. -
LibbyAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great, easy read!August 2, 2013LibbyAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is full of great spiritual truths for many different topics that girls encounter every day, including some pretty hot topics such as: tattoos, sexuality, and marriage in today's culture. Each days devotional, contains a Bible verse, a very short lesson, and then an Action Step to help you practically apply what you learned. It is a quick, easy read, but doesn't sacrifice Truth.
