This is a well-written, attractive bible for young readers. The translation is simple, but clear. I feel that none of the meaning is lost. It is based on the NIV, but doesn't seem to have any of the negative things from the newer translations. Please note, I must correct an earlier reviewer. The NIV is not considered a literal translation. It is considered a "mediating" translation, (see https://www.christianbook.com/page/bibles/about-bibles/about-translations) The 1984 and before editions are still excellent translations, just not literal. Even though our church prefers a more literal translation of the bible, such as the ESV, I like using this version with younger children, up to age 8. I love to tell the creation story using the NIrV.

Here is Genesis 1: 6-8, day 2: " 6 God said, "Let there be a huge space between the waters. Let it separate water from water." 7 And that's exactly what happened. God made the huge space between the waters. He separated the water under the space from the water above it. 8 God called the huge space "sky."There was evening, and there was morning. It was day two."

What could be plainer? God said (spoke) and it happened. There was evening and morning (24 hours) and it was a day. Exactly the important ideas I want the children to understand.

    A few more examples:

    Romans 3:23

23 Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God's glory.

    Acts 2:21

    21" Everyone who calls

on the name of the Lord will be saved."

The translation is accurate enough to lead a young child to salvation; I have done so using the NIrV.

It is a joy to see young 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders reading from God's word without much hesitation and struggling. This is possible with NIrV. I check CBD regularly to find slightly imperfect and other good deals on this bible so that I will have enough to share.

The features are excellent also. I won't go into all of them. I like the Italian Duo-Tone cover. It has a very nice feel to it. It may be better than leather. This version is designed to lay flat when opened, which is very helpful.

Do not hesitate to buy this bible.

I admit, I like the NIrV translation for my youngest daughter. It draws from the NIV version, which is one of many literal translations of the Bible. This means that the NIV text is a word for word translation of the original Greek and Hebrew texts with the intent of conveying the literal meanings rather than attempting to capture and interpret the thoughts and meanings that the original texts were attempting to convey. The NIrV takes the NIV text and uses smaller words, even including definitions of more difficult words within the text, shorter sentences, and they broke the chapters up into smaller sections in order to assist young readers.

More than just an easier to read text, this Bible is colorful and engaging. Each page is colorful, with either colored chapter numbers, section headings, text boxes, or illustrations. The Bible is full of "Did You Know?" titbits, "Words to Treasure" memory verse suggestions, and "Live It" ideas. I like that the pages, while thinner than a typical child's story book, are not tissue paper thin as most bibles are. I love that the words are spaced in such a way that a new, independent reader can easily read them without getting lost in lines spaced to close together.

I love the book introductions that include who wrote the book, why it was written, what we can learn about God in the book, important people, when and where it happened and the stories included in the book. But what I like best is the my daughter loves having and reading her very first "real" Bible. This is a great was to transition from Bible story books to the true word of God.

I did receive a copy of this Bible from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoy reviewing Bibles, especially Bibles that were made with children in mind. The Adventure Bible was made in a way that makes it attractive, fun, and easily usable for children.

    Who the book is for:

Ages 6 through 10 is what the back of the book stays, and I would say that is about spot on.

    What I liked:

There is a section that references "children of the Bible", something that I found really cool for the children reading the book, so that they can see just how important children are to God and to the world.

This Bible includes study help for children, so that they can learn more about God and his word.

Translated in a language that is easy for children to understand.

    What I didn't like:

There is nothing in particular that I didn't like about this Bible.

    My conclusion:

Overall, this is a good Bible for kids.

I give Adventure Bible 5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book free to review from BookLook. The opinions expressed in this review are my true thoughts and feeling regarding this book. I am disclosing this information in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255.

I have been a fan of the Nirv bible and the adventure bible for 6 years now! Shortly after I became the volunteer Children's Ministry Leader, a young girl brought one to Children's church. I was so impressed, I immediately bought a slightly irregular one for my use with the students. I regularly check to see if they have them on sale. I also buy them for my grandchildren as they reach first grade. Four years ago I bought one for my granddaughter, but the color version was not available. In September I bought one for her brother for his birthday. I had the pleasure of being there when he opened it. The grandson wasn't overly impressed as the family doesn't regularly go to church. But my son was! He thought it was an amazing bible! It was worth every been to see my son be interested in a bible! I recently bought some large print paperback versions as I have some older children who struggle with reading skills. It always thrills my heart to see young children reading God's word without struggling! Some complain that this bible is not a true translation, but I disagree. We are a conservative church that takes God's word seriously. I have not found an error yet and all the verses I need to lead to lead a child to Christ are clear as can be! I am impressed with the new color version and will continue to buy and recommend this bible.
