Do you like reading Amish fiction? How about mysteries? This book, Murder Simply Brewed, An Amish Village Mystery by Vannetta Chapman, has both. It's definitely unlike any Amish fiction books that I have read. Kept me wanting to read more and not put it down.

There is a mix of Amish and non-Amish people in this novel. It takes place in the Amish Artisan Village where the manager, Amber Wright works. It is an areas with many shops. A death happens in the coffee shop called A Simple Blend. The police think the man, Ethan Grey died of a heart attack but Amber and Hannah are not convinced that it's simply a natural death. Hannah worked at the Quilting Bee before she got transferred to the coffee shop after Ethan died, since she was the one most familiar in how things operated. So how are Amber and Hannah going to prove that this was more than a regular death? You'll have to read to find out.

I really enjoyed reading this e-book. At first I took my time reading it, taking many breaks but after a few chapters into the story, I really go into it and couldn't put it down. At one point during the story, I wanted to stop reading because I was nervous for a couple of the characters. It was almost like I was part of the story. It is definitely worth the time to read this book.

Hannah Troyer is a good Amish daughter. She works hard to help her mother and father provide for their family by working in a local quilting shop. At twenty-three, she has almost given up on finding love and so she resigns herself to working in quiet humility. The very last thing that she would ever have imagined herself getting involved with was finding a murderer.

Amber Wright likes her life to be organized and well run. She has managed the Amish Artisan Village for several years and finds the routine and a quiet life very much to her liking. So when Ethan, the manager of the coffee shop, is found dead and the village begins to experiencing horrible graffiti, it throws her well- ordered life out of balance. She and Hannah soon realize that Ethan's death may not be as simple as it seems so they set out to find out who would want Ethan dead and why.

As with this authors first series, Shipshaewana- Amish Mystery Series, this is a story of friendship between to women of very different cultures as well as a mystery story that has enough plot twists to keep the reader engaged in the story. The book consists mostly of dialogue, but still has enough details about the people and the places so that the reader does not feel lost. And of course there is the beginning of two love stories.

My favorite characters, Amber and Hannah. The two come from completely different worlds, and are sometimes confused by the other, never the less, these two women form a delightful friendship. I love the way that the author combines the two cultures and that each character respects the others beliefs and worship practices.

There were a couple of characters that began to get on my last nerve about half way through the book. The sheriff Gordon Avery being one of them. I'm not quite sure what the author was going for, but in my opinion he came across as very ignorant and very selfish. However toward the end he did have his moments.

Over all, I was thrilled to finally get my hands on this book. It was definitely worth the wait and I can't wait until the second book is out.

This was a great romantic suspense. Vannetta Chapman outdid herself by giving us not one but two romances. I enjoyed reading about Amber and Hannah as they grow in their unusual friendship, as they solve the Village mystery, and as they each fall in love (not with each other LOL).

You don't have to be a coffee drinker to enjoy the book. :)

Murder Simply Brewed by Vannetta Chapman is a most enjoyable Amish story. Amber Wright is in charge of the Amish Artisan Village in Middlebury, Indiana, and is having a great day until she learns that one of the shop owners has been found dead. Hannah Troyer, a young Amish employee, finds Ethan Gray the owner of A simple Blend on the floor near the espresso machine and at first it appears that he died of a heart attack. Amber hires Hannah to take over the running of the coffee shop and the two become good friends while trying to solve the mystery of Ethan's death for they are convinced that he was murdered. Amber and Hannah face several dangerous situations for someone does not want them to solve the mystery. Tate Bowman who owns the property next to the Village gets involved in trying to solve the mystery and he also finds himself drawn to Amber. Hannah is also learning that her friend Jesse Miler has feelings for her that are more than friendship.

The author did an excellent job in the development of all parts of the story. One part that I personally did not like was when the boa constrictor came into the story for I have a great fear of snakes and that part of the story gave me the heebie jeebies. The way the Amish and Englischers worked together in this story was extremely well written and was a joy to read. Every character was very believable and every one of them came to life on the pages of the book. Scenes came to life and I could picture myself working right along with Amber and Hannah to solve the mystery of Ethan's death. There were several twists and turns in the story and each one just added to my enjoyment of and interest in the story. I especially liked the way that God's grace was evident throughout the entire story. This book has it all–Amish and Englischers working together, a murder mystery, and romance.

I highly recommend this book to all lovers of Amish fiction for this story is an exceptionally good one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Murder Simply Brewed is the story of a mystery that begins at the Amish Artisan Village where Amber works as the manager. Early one morning she got a call that Ethan Gray was found dead in the shop he runs there. The police say it was a heart attack from apparent vandalism to his front shop window.

But odd things start happening around the Amish Artisan Village. And it looks like Ethan Gray's death may not be so accidental after all. Amber and a young Amish girl, Hannah, who also works there become fast friends and they work together to put the clues of the mystery together. If Ethan did not die of natural causes they what to find out what really happened. But this mystery may not be very safe for them, or Amber's helpful neighbor, to dig into.

I did not really like the title of the book, but the story sounded interesting so I gave it a try. And I must say it was a very good book. The mystery was very well done and wow was there some exciting parts! It was not just about the Amish in the story, a lot of the story was about what was happening with Amber. But I really liked it and it was a great book!
