pastor2519West Point, UTAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Greatest Question: Is Jesus Man, Myth or MessaihApril 20, 2016pastor2519West Point, UTAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Man, Myth, Messiah: Answering History's Greatest Question. Was Jesus just a man? Was he a myth? Or is He truly the Messiah. Author Rice Broocks suggests that history's greatest question is just who was Jesus; and he sets out to answer it in his recently released book Man Myth Messiah: Answering History's Greatest Question ( W Publishing Group, 2016).
As Dr Gary Habermas points out in the forward, Broocks builds a strong Christian foundation from which action should proceed. Historical facts and reliability of scripture make up the first few chapters, then Broocks moves on to the facts behind the resurrection and crucifixion, and then the deity of Jesus. But he doesn't stop there. As Christians we are called to carry the good news and so Broocks devotes some space to showing why believers need to be engaged in discipleship and evangelism.
In his introduction Broocks points out that churches are starting to see a real need to equip people to defend their faith (p xviii). Fifty years ago that might not have been needed, but in this age of millennials, post-modernism, and an increasingly diverse demographic in most of our neighborhoods, it's often not enough think that we know what we believe, we have to know why we believe it, and be able to explain why.
Broocks has done an excellent job of compiling information from scholars and theologians, and putting it into language that the average church person can understand. He provides answers to the most frequent arguments that a Christian is likely to encounter, and as I read this book, I finally felt that I was also gaining the confidence needed to share and defend my faith in Jesus the Messiah.
Notice I said gain the confidence. I have been sure of and confident in my faith for quite some time, however that doesn't mean that I have felt comfortable proclaiming it, and when challenged, I was likely to back down. I didn't change my idea of Jesus, but I felt definitely unprepared to get into a prolonged discussion of why. Now I feel that I have the information I need to explain the what and why of my faith.
This book serves as a stand-alone read, or could easily be used in a Sunday school class or small group, and could serve as a valuable resource for Pastors to use in preparing sermons or evangelism training.

TimIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Great introduction to apologeticsApril 18, 2016TimIllinoisAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Man, Myth, Messiah: Answering History's Greatest Question. As Christians, we find ourselves moving from the doctrinal discussions of earlier times into a battle allowing us to own faith and still be considered intelligent beings. Fortunately, the defenders of the faith have never been far from the front lines of these skirmishes. C.S. Lewis, Josh McDowell, Alister McGrath, and Lee Strobel have become commonplace names in the field of apologetics through the past several decades. to this list we might now add Rice Brocks, author of Man, Myth, Messiah .
The movies God's Not Dead, and God's Not Dead 2 are based on the works of Brocks, and when one needs a place to begin developing their stance on apologetics, I believe the works of Brocks are excellent starting points. For the moment, I look to Man, Myth, Messiah only.
Brocks begins by creating a historical foundation for the existence of Jesus Christ, and then moves stepwise through a route to move from the simple historical acceptance the man Jesus Christ existed to the believe He was the Messiah. The work is reminiscent of earlier works, but includes updated support which speaks to his points.
Beyond the updated examples, earlier writers like Lewis and Strobel tend to dig deep in their writings and leave casual readers struggling to read the much needed material. Brocks seems to have a way of writing which I find easier to read, all the while maintaining the depth needed to give integrity to his work. I highly recommend anyone who wishes to develop a deeper basis for defending their faith to give this book a read. It is well worth their time.

Answering Historys Greatest Question
By Rice Broocks
Who was Jesus? Just a man, a good teacher, or was He a myth, a made up story, or was He the true messiah promised by God in the Old Testament? Rice Broocks will answer this question in his book Man, Myth, Messiah. . Using the Holy Bible and other historical writing Rice shares the facts and factious stories that have been passed down for centuries by other religions and groups. The facts Rice share proves who Jesus was, why He was here. Rice has divided his information into 10 chapters of information that include what skeptics believe, why the Bible is reliable, why Jesus had to die and many other details. One chapter is answering the call to discipleship and another is on preparing to share the Gospel.
I found the book very interesting, especially the stories of the myths. The book contains a large amount of information. Use this book in discussion groups and/or study groups to understand who Jesus really is.

HeidiMarie5 Stars Out Of 5Everyone must read this!April 11, 2016HeidiMarieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Man, Myth, Messiah: Answering History's Greatest Question. In this book, the author goes into detail about all of the historical evidence proving the existence, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus, as well as the validity of the Gospels. Obviously, as Christianity places all of its weight on the single event of Christ's resurrection, Jesus being the real deal is pretty darn important.
This book really shocked me, as I had no idea that there was so much evidence outside of Scriptures that even non-believers admit proves that Jesus was a real man and the Messiah. There is just so much information given in this book- if I tried detailing it all here, this post would be ridiculously long. I am a little overwhelmed by all the proof given, and I feel so compelled to share it with everyone. I don't understand how anyone could deny Jesus after reading this book. Broocks obviously did so much research into this topic, and he provides all of the sources that he used for this book, so the readers know that his statements are valid.
The purpose of this book, according to the author, was to equip Christians to be able to defend their faith, and explain exactly why they believe in Jesus, and also why that belief is valid. The book does a remarkable job of doing just that.
The book is organized really well and is extremely easy to follow and understand. I think that everyone should read this book, regardless of belief. Even if this doesn't convince you to become a Christian, I think that it gives a lot of important information about the Christian faith. Each chapter ends with a summary that leaves the reader with the main ideas of each chapter, and the book ends with instructions of how to share this knowledge with others.
I gave this book 5/5 stars! I just want to give this to every person that I know and make them read it. I also recommend watching the new film "God's Not Dead 2", as this book is the evidence and the inspiration behind the film, and a lot of the information from the book is told in the movie. I just can't talk about this book enough!

Blinking Writer5 Stars Out Of 5The Evidence Behind God's Not Dead 2April 4, 2016Blinking WriterQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Man, Myth, Messiah: Answering History's Greatest Question.Man, Myth, Messiah by Rice Broocks is a very boldly and factually written book. Rice Broocks, as you already know, wrote the book Gods Not Dead. He wrote the story behind the movie. Now, he has done it again! With the upcoming movie Gods Not Dead 2, Rice Broocks compiled all of his evidence supporting the characters in the new movie and put it in this book: Man, Myth, Messiah.
Rice Broocks wrote this book with the intentions of proving that Jesus life, death, and resurrection really happened. He intended to prove that Jesus wasnt just a man, Jesus wasnt a Myth, but Jesus was and is the Messiah. He uses the scriptures from the Bible to help prove this, of course, but he also uses facts from sources other than the Bible. Rice Broocks dissects the incredible facts of history surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and writes in detail what exactly we should learn from those facts. He also provides an excellent Notes section in the back of the book filled with many resources.
Each chapter is filled to the rim with new things that even the oldest Christian can learn. Not only can you learn about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, but Broocks writes about all different kinds of views, cultures, and religions. Each chapter begins with a quote or Bible verse that fits right into the chapter and then the chapter ends with a summary of everything in the whole chapter. I enjoyed the summaries. Being a mom of two babies that need attention 24/7 makes it hard to stay focused on anything for an amount of time long enough to retain and learn what you need to from it. If it wasnt for the summaries, I would have probably needed to reread the chapter one more time before I moved on to the next in order to retain what I read. Not because the writing isnt retainable, but because of my attention span.
Rice Broocks writes about each aspect of Jesus journey on the earth. He also highlights the significance of each step of Jesus Christ fulfilling His purpose for being on earth. In order for us to understand why each step is significant, we have to dig deeper into the details and
I would highly recommend this book for anyone and everyone thats needing some reassurance of how real the story of Jesus really is. This clears up any kind of doubt anyone should have about the existence and occurrence of Jesus life, death, and resurrection.
