Perhaps the only true rival to Matthew Henry Charles Spurgeon said, "If I must have only one commentary, and had read Matthew Henry as I have, I do not know but what I should choose Poole. He is a very prudent and judicious commentator . . . not so pithy and witty by far as Matthew Henry, but he is perhaps more accurate, less a commentator, and more an expositor."

Pastor Joseph BonaventuraSanta Monica, CAAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5IF YOU ARE A CALVINIST THIS IS GREAT STUFF !!!!!!!February 1, 2012Pastor Joseph BonaventuraSanta Monica, CAAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I started to read this very old commentary and found that it was not only good it was very great and next to John Calvin it's the perfect set. I think as well the print is small but that's ok still at 49 I can read it very easy. I wanted to get together with some friends of mine and redo this in larger type and maybe book by book and in the ESV version might be fun to restore ............... but for now this is a very good commentary ........ God Bless Matthew Poole !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HopelesslyCalvinistAge: 35-44Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Be aware: very small printNovember 15, 2010HopelesslyCalvinistAge: 35-44Gender: maleOne one hand, I'm grateful to have the Matthew Poole collection available; I'm grateful also for the publishing efforts, in general, of this publisher. I would rather have paid twice the price, however, to have this in 6 volumes and in a readable format. The print in this 3-volume edition is challenging for even younger eyes.
Angelo BeardMemphis TNAge: 45-54Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5July 19, 2010Angelo BeardMemphis TNAge: 45-54Gender: maleThis is a very good set to have glad that I HAVE IT NOW. The only thing I wish is that it was in a bigger type setting but I also know that whould be more volumes. Great price.
Stephen H.5 Stars Out Of 5June 15, 2010Stephen H.This is a very different type of commentary, from its layout to the King James language. But once you get used to it, the knowledge contained in these volumes is unmatched. A great Bible study tool.
Q: What is print size? I see several comments about type size and would like to know what size it actually is. Thank you.
These commentaries are printed in 8 point text, with 7 point notes.
