Until I received this book, I hadnt realized it was third in a series of Rosey Corner Books. I read ANGEL SISTER when it came out several years ago and loved it. This book is just fine as a stand-alone, but there were enough mentions in passing of past events that I am curious to read the second book, SMALL TOWN GIRL and learn more about some of the backstory on various characters. Dont let the fact it is part of a series discourage you from reading this touching, sweet story of a family in Kentucky who just keep pulling folks into their family circle. It is a story of family love, love and loss, and a faith in God that whatever troubles we have in life, he will be with us through them all. There is pain and tragedy, but overcoming it all is fresh starts and hopeful beginnings and deep thankfulness for the blessings they have all received.

The book opens as the Merritt sisters are anxiously awaiting the return home of Evies and Kates husbands at the end of WWII. Their joy is tempered by the sorrow of their sister, Tori, whose husband was killed in a Japanese prison camp. As Tori said, It wasnt supposed to turn out this way. All of the characters had changed in the four years of the war, in ways visible and those not seen; and as Kate later observes, Life didnt offer many perfect endings, not without some pain mixed in. This book acknowledges the fact that life is not always as we want it, but that it is good and a blessing to be shared. The sisters and their extended family love and support each other through the storms of life that come to all of us and take to heart Aunt Hatties wisdom that It is what we do in the storms that matters.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this family- Kate, Tori, Samantha, Victor, Nadine, Graham and Aunt Hattie. Lorena, the fourth sister, was as much a delight as she was in ANGEL SISTER which tells of her adoption into this family. Her warm and giving heart toward the lonely in the world was so genuine I couldnt help but wonder how great the world would be if we all saw through Lorenas eyes. Evie----well, hopefully she will one day grow up. I received this delightful, uplifting book through The Book Club Network, but the opinions expressed are solely mine.

What a treat to read another book set in Rosey Corner KY! Love Comes Home by Ann H. Gabhart

I have enjoyed both of Ann Gabhart's other books set in the fictional town of Rosey Corner, KY, so couldn't wait to read this latest adventures of the Merritt family. The main love interest of this story is the third daughter, Victoria, who was widowed at the end of the second book in the Rosey Corner series. But we also get to catch up on Jay Tanner and Kate, the second daughter and the gal he married at the end of the second book, right before shipping out overseas at the beginning of WWII, and Preacher Mike and Evie, the oldest daughter who married at the beginning of the second book. So, we also see their struggles with rebuilding love after long separations and after the traumas of war. Since my husband spent two tours in Thailand during the Viet Nam War, this book brought back many memories.

This book does deal realistically with the effects of war on a family, but it is not doom and gloom, but rather very uplifting how God can work to overcome hardships by working through the members of a family who love each other and their small community which almost seems like part of the family.

If you have not read any of these books, I definitely suggest you buy them all (Angel Sister, Small Town Girl, and Love Comes Home) and start at the beginning. You are in store for a treat!

This book was a gift from the publisher, but that in no way affected my review!

Set in Rosey Corner, Kentucky just after World War II ends, Love Comes Home is the third book in the Rosey Corner series by Ann Gabhart. I received the book to review and had not read the first two books. Love Comes Home can be read as a stand-alone novel, but it is so good that I now want to read the entire series!

The Merritt sisters are the main characters in the story. Kate married her husband, Jay, before he was shipped overseas to fight in the war. They married quickly. Now that the war is over and Jay is home, Kate wonders if she truly knows her husband.

Evangeline (Evie) is married to Mike, who was a preacher before the war and a prisoner during the war. They have a solid marriage...or do they? Evie struggles with the changes in Mike. He isn't the same man she fell in love with.

Victoria (Tori) married Sammy before the war. They have a daughter who will never know her father because Sammy will never be coming home. Tori suffers unbearable heartache over the death of her beloved husband, but knows she must go on for the sake of her child. She must keep Sammy's memory alive.

The youngest sister is Lorena (Birdie) who is a teenager and was adopted. She is an endearing character who deeply loves her adopted family, yet longs to stay connected to her roots.

The war has changed everyone. It will take much understanding and faith to rebuild the lives of those in this family. The characters are strong and the story is inspirational. I highly recommend this deeply moving novel.

I received this book from the publisher, through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

We're back in Rosey Corner with the Merritt sisters and I couldn't be happier. I love this town and the people who live there -- especially the Merritt clan. You don't need to have read the first two books in the series, Angel Sister and Small Town Girl, but I think this concluding story will pack more of an emotional punch if you have.

Gabhart excels at writing true-to-life drama that stirs the soul and challenges the mind. Post-war small-town America is the perfect venue to highlight the trials that faced both returning servicemen and civilians. Married sisters, Evie and Kate are ready to take up where they left off with their newlywed husbands. Mike and Jay are just as eager, but neither is prepared for the difficult transition into civilian life. Heartache and joy and every emotion in between bond husbands and wives in a new and everlasting way. I cried and laughed right along with them.

Their war widow sister, Victoria, has her own challenges as she struggles to discover what the future holds for her and her fatherless child. And fourteen year-old baby sister, Lorena has her own riveting soul-searching plot thread.

Once again, Gabhart has created an ambiance of hope and faith that lingers long after the covers of the book are closed. An exceptional conclusion to a magnificent series.

Oh how I have loved each book in the Rosey Corner Series, and Love Comes Home is no exception. The time period pulls me in, but it is the close nit small town feel that captures my heart and makes me feel like I have honestly stepped back to a simpler time. The Merritt sisters are such wonderful characters, I could honestly feel the sigh of relief they must have felt when their young men started coming home from the war, and the heartache when some didn't make it back. Plans are being made and we watch the characters grow and change while holding onto their faith. A story where everything isn't always perfect instead it is written just like real life with ups and downs disappointments and triumphs. Ms. Gabhart certainly knows how to create memorable characters that stay with me long after I read the final page of her story. This is the third book in the series and while it could probably be read as a stand alone I would recommend the entire series, just so you can get to know the characters and their backgrounds. Overall, a very good series for anyone who enjoys christian themed romance that will take them back to a simpler time.
