Katie5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic!January 28, 2016KatieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Enjoyable for students AND their parents! This series makes historical events and people come to life, keeping even my 4 and 6-year-olds interested. Touches on so many different aspects of the Revolution, including dozens of people and significant events, victories and defeats not only on the battlefield, but also in Congress, in diplomatic endeavors, and in the hearts and homes of patriots. For those concerned about violence, it shows many battle scenes with guns and cannons fired, but no blood or gore. There is talk of people dying, mostly in the context of encouraging those remaining to continue the fight for freedom. It is well-done, inspiring, and definitely worth the time and money!
MotherOf8&StillSane5 Stars Out Of 5excellent!January 14, 2016MotherOf8&StillSaneQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My kids love this series! It's a great way to see history come to life and they will remember it longer.
labonita85 Stars Out Of 5Great educational tool and very fun!January 11, 2016labonita8Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My nephews (ages 4-11) have learned so much from watching these videos. They watch them over and over. They wanted to visit the historical landmarks for their family vacation! My husband and I find the videos entertaining as well. A great value and resource.
Maria Manns5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent and Captivating StoriesJanuary 7, 2016Maria MannsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4The stories were quite informative and kept my children entertained on a long car trip. It did however lack the "God" element that I expected. It still deserves 5 stars because it was very well done and made History something my children wanted to watch.
mommyswanErie, PAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Simply Fabulous!January 6, 2016mommyswanErie, PAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I got this as a gift for my niece and nephew because my kids (ages 3 ,5, 9, 10, 11) absolutely love these videos. They are entertaining and educational. People are astonished about how much my 5 year old knows about the Revolutionary War and I credit these videos. Their historical accuracy quite impressive for being a children's video series. It incorporates many of the key figures of the Revolutionary time period as well as ideas that fueled the revolution. I love that Sarah (the female character) questions the idea of freedom from the perspective of a loyal British subject perspective and eventually realized the importance of Liberty and Freedom. I would highly recommend this series to anyone.. I even enjoy them!
Q: Any violence? My kids are more sensitive to violence than others. Considering this is about a war, can anyone give me any specifics as to what is shown. I understand that there's probably not bloody battles or anything, but I guess I'm asking about how much peril, death, and violence.
It's been a while since my kids watched this show, but I dont' remember violence being excessive. The focus was really more on the history and characters. It's a great tool for kids to learn about history. One of our product reviews for this DVD set states "My 6 year old loves it and the content isn't too intense for his 4 year old brother to be in the room with him."
