    Lethal Legacy

    Guardians of Justice Book 3

    by Irene Hannon

Kelly Warren is not convinced that her father committed suicide as the police determined. But she has no proof. Lack of a suicide note isn't a reasonable doubt for Detective Alan Carlson. But when Kelly receives a birthday present from her father she believes she has proof that her did not kill himself 6 months ago.

With Detective Carlson on vacation, Kelly brings her evidence to Detective Cole Taylor. Kelly's evidence is not enough to re-open the case but it is enough for Cole to encourage Kelly to go through her father's house to look for more proof.

But the more Kelly searches the more questions she uncovers. A letter to her father written to him by a person from his past. A picture with names she doesn't recognize. A phone number hidden in her father's wallet. What can it all mean and does any of it have anything to do with her father's death?

Cole is drawn to Kelly in a way he didn't expect and it is causing him to question the choices he has made in his life. But Kelly is a case and professional and personal can't mix in Cole's book. But when Kelly's life is in danger she becomes personal.

What Lethal Legacy did Kelly's father leave to her? Can she determine it in time?

I thoroughly enjoyed Lethal Legacy and found it attention grabbing. I could not put it down until I found out what happened next. If you like excitement this is the book for you!

Lethal Legacy also takes an honest look at what exactly an answered prayer is. How does God use us in another's life?

Irene Hannon in her new book "Lethal Legacy" Book Three in the Guardians Of Justice series published by Revell Books focuses on Detective Cole Taylor and Kelly Warren.

    From the Back Cover: A determined daughter . . .A skeptical detective . . .A deadly secret . . .

The police say her father's death was suicide. Kelly Warren says it was murder—and she has new evidence to prove it. Detective Cole Taylor doesn't put much credence in her claim, and nothing in his case review suggests foul play. But when he digs deeper (delete dash) and discovers startling information linking her to a long-buried secret, the danger escalates. Is history repeating itself? And who wants Kelly silenced?

The police ruled Kelly Warren's father's death a suicide. However, she did not believe that so she went hunting for proof that her father was murdered. She got the proof and brought it to police headquarters. Now the investigation has been reopened from suicide to murder and Kelly's life is now in great danger. Cole needs to catch the killer before he makes Kelly his next victim. As always with an Irene Hannon novel there is mounting suspense that seems to squeeze the breath out of you. In "Lethal Legacy" Ms. Hannon seems to have written her best story yet. Kelly's life in great jeopardy and this thriller becomes more and more exciting with the last hundred pages being an extremely wild ride. All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster ride. At the beginning there is just the climb to the top but once you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends. This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book.

In "Lethal Legacy" the theme of family relationships, and how they can impact a person's entire life, runs throughout the book–affecting both the good guys and the bad guys! Family matters–that's a key message of this book. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer who knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!

I've read one other book in this series and really enjoyed Hannon's ability to write edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense. Note, that it is not imperative that you read all the books in order to gain enjoyment as each book stands on its own.

Kelly Warren's father's death was ruled a suicide, and the case was considered closed by the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons. Whew, that's a long name for a police department, but these guys aren't short on courage, smarts, and some hunky good looks to boot.

Kelly has never been at peace with the conclusion her father killed himself, and when she receives a gift in the mail that was preordered by her dad the day before his death, she concludes her instincts are right. The detective that worked her case in on vacation and in his absence, handsome Cole Taylor steps in to help — reluctantly. But his reluctance quickly changes to enthusiasm as easy-on-the-eyes Kelly grabs a piece of his heart that has been closed for quite a while.

Romantic and crime-solving tension weave through this story, with just the right amount of levity thrown in when Cole and his brothers and sister get together for their weekly brunches. I laughed out loud at several of those scenes which also made this only child yearn for such a family.

Except for one small instance where I felt the plot point was somewhat contrived, I found this fast-paced story believable and enjoyable.

    I highly recommend this book!

Kelly Warren's fathers death is being deemed a suicide but she isn't buying that. She chooses willingly to be involved on the sidelines in the investigation

Cole Taylor is one of the detectives involved in solving Kelly's fathers death. He wants to believe that it was a suicide but he has strong convictions.

Alan Carlson looks back to the last few years. Enslaved to a issue he cannot withdraw from, recalls bitter memories as he dulls his mind with liquid poison.

Mark Rossi is content with his life but finds his past keeps surfacing to haunt him.

When a crucial secret is dicovered lives are at serious risk. Time becomes the enemy in a race to discovery.

Romance, mystery, suspense and danger perfectly create one hard to put down read. The book held my interest throughout and kept my attention high while the pages turned. I became involved in the story from the beginning peppered with twists and turns, realistic scenery and dialogue and high character development created absolutely no dull parts whatsoever and makes this a must read book for the summer. Although this is book three in a series it can easily make it as a stand alone novel. I was highly entertained by this fast paced faith challenging novel. Highly recommend!!
