Jesus said life is all about loving God and loving one another. Life is about relationships — our relationship with God and then with one another.

And LEGO®s? Regardless of size and color, LEGO®s are designed to do one thing: connect. They connect at the top (God) and at the bottom (others). Hence The LEGO® Principle: connect first with God and then with others.

Bonifacio writes about the importance of discipleship. It is the "one thing" the church should be in the business of producing. "Discipleship is God's strategy for transforming the world." (19) Connecting with God and others is the joy of discipleship.

He covers the four universal building blocks of relationship (trust, love, forgiveness, communication) and how they apply to discipleship.

He relates the importance of having discipleship as your main value. "What we value, we are willing to sacrifice for." (121) He looks at four values (people, Jesus, ministry, every day) and the corresponding discipleship principles.

He reminds us that relationships with God and others are not just for our enjoyment. They are for mission and reaching others.

There is nothing earth-shakingly new in this book. The emphasis is timely, however. In this age of social media, people are looking for real relationships and that is what Bonifacio writes about.

This book would be great for people in ministry who have not read many books on discipleship. Bonifacio tells lots of encouraging stories. He is also very clear on discipleship and the various parts of it.

We are encouraged to engage our community and culture. We do that through relationships. This book is a great place to start to see how it works.

Besides that, his history and factual tidbits about LEGO®s are really interesting too!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.

This is a great book on it's stated topic--discipleship. Personally I think it could also be advertised as a marriage book as well. It is the best book I've read recently on relationships; foundations and building a godly relationship. What every marriage needs. Connect to God first and each other.
