I've purchased many different Gift & Award Bibles to compare them. In my opinion, this is the best one because of the following: the sewn binding makes it very easy to open; Jesus' words are in red; no distracting chapter headers/sub-headers; outstanding supplements at the back, especially color maps and dictionary/index of "Words Which Have Changed in Meaning" over the past 400 years; thick paperboard cover with gold embossed letters; high-quality, white pages; simple, clean layout of the text.

The only drawbacks are the lack of pronunciation marks for names of people and places, and some people might have trouble reading the 7-point font. (Most Bibles in this price range have 6-point font.)

I purchased a variety of colors of this Bible to give away ($3.99 each, when on sale). The pink looks like a true pastel pink online, but it's actually more of a peach color. I would not repurchase the pink version for that reason.

The two distinguishing aspects of this Bible are the 9-page dictionary at the back which helps readers understand some words that have changed meaning over time, and the excellent binding that doesn't make you wrestle with the book in order to read the words toward the center.

I prefer to hand out high-quality Bibles to new believers so they will actually WANT to read God's Word. Dollar-store Bibles tend to be difficult to hold open, and their grey pages with small font are not very pleasant to read. Plus, those versions only have black ink throughout and don't have nice supplements at the back. The few extra dollars invested in this high-quality Bible will increase the likelihood of people actually reading it. Giving this well-made version (rather than a $1 to $2 version) also shows that you deeply care about the new believer's walk with Christ and want to convey the beauty, majesty, and importance of God's Word. For the price of a cup of coffee at a restaurant, you can upgrade to a sturdy, elegant Bible for a Christian brother or sister to treasure for a long time. That is money well spent!

We bought a case of Bible to donate to the many men and women who are in our local live-in addiction treatment center. We made sure to give one to each of the men and women who attended our church, but we also put several in their facility's library. The price was so low that we hoped they would last a while; but we found that they were good quality, looked nice, and are now being well-used. They were well-worth the $4 each that we paid. We'll be ordering more in the next few months.
