If you want to get the KJV as it was intended for you to read, then buy this Bible. I have the hardcover version and the print is 8 pt and a little difficult to read and it was uncomfortable to hold because of my hands. I ordered the leather copy and the print is much easier for me. The leather and binding are so soft and the lettering is beautiful. This 1611 KJV includes the Apocrapha, which expands the importance of the KJ and the books of The Wisdom Of Solomon and Ecclasiasticus are wonderful to read. I love the fact that this version of Gods Word does NOT have a concordance and study notes, as I can read it in the old style english and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me and direct ME on what I should think, not a mans thoughts or notes. A absolutely wonderful volume. if you want to read Gods Word and not be watered down by other later versions and perversions, then buy this edition.

This review was written for 1611 KJV Bible - Deluxe Edition, Calfskin.
Disclaimer: I am not a book or binding expert whatsoever. I do love the Bible however and read it daily. The calfskin version of this Bible is awesome as far as I am concerned. For daily reading it is a great size. I also own a "real" super deluxe 32 lb 1611 King James facsimile in gothic script. This one is not as breathtaking but it was $900 cheaper. I am not sure why a few reviews were so low, Maybe the hardcover and genuine leather are not as nice as the calfskin. Some complained the script was Roman, but if you look at the picture you would see that before you buy it. As I said I own a Gothic version and love it, but this is more functional for daily reading. If you are looking for an heirloom Bible for daily reading this is it. The calfskin is really nice and soft plus the Apocrypha is a refreshing bonus since most modern versions removed it.

This review was written for 1611 KJV Bible - Deluxe Edition, Calfskin.
I purchased this Bible for a couple of reasons, the first being that I enjoy collecting and reading older versions of the English Bible. I love the difference in the wording and how it makes me reflect, in a unique way, to the Word of God. The second reason is that I spend a great amount of time examining many modern translations of the Bible, in comparison to the original languages, and have found most to deviate from the intended meaning substantially. This is frustrating to me when I want to relax and prayerfully read the scriptures. This 1611 KJ Bible does not suffer from changes driven by modern copyright laws and denominational persuasion(opinions). The calfskin leather is PLUSH and well put together. The paper is a good grade and the print is well done. The print may seem small for some, but if so, that is why God made Eye Doctors...I have one, and can read this 1611 KJV with incredible enjoyment!

The '2020' Review.....so far.....for the AUTHORIZED [King James] VERSION 1611 Edition of THE HOLY BIBLE.

    Greetings:

The simple fact that there are 54 'prior reviews' to this edition of the KJV is 'testament' to the enduring 'popularity and interest' in the AUTHORIZED [King James] VERSION of the Holy Scriptures some '409 years' after its initial publication in 'A.D. 1611'! (With some of those 'reviewers' I agree, and with some I don't.)

'Whilst.....while' I am not especially 'keen' on engaging in 'doctrinal disputes' with other believers, I must take 'issue' with 'the young man' who 'penned' the 10 June 2015 review with 'his assertion' that the Books called Apocrypha are 'non-canonical and not inspired'. Of course he has 'a right' to his opinion.....but 'opinion' is all that it is. Fundamentalist Protestantism fortunately is not 'the be-all and end-all' as to what constitutes genuine Christian thinking, behavior, and belief. Just 'ask' all those other Christians who adhere to Roman Catholic and/or Eastern Orthodox 'guidelines'.

One of the 'truly great' and distinguishing features of the AUTHORIZED [King James] VERSION is that it did include the Apocrypha as 'an integral' part of the 'KJV canon' of THE HOLY BIBLE. (Note: For some reason 'THE TRANSLATORS' decided 'to omit' the Third and the Fourth Books of the Maccabees and Psalm 151 from the 'text of the Apocrypha'. Whether they were 'right or wrong' to do so certainly remains 'an interesting' topic for discussion.) That being said.....

I have 'to confess' that I think that the HENDRICKSON BIBLE PUBLISHERS 1611 edition of the KJV bound in genuine leather [ISBN 978-1-56563-162-5] is an 'absolute delight'. (I have two copies of it in my collection which I use 'in conjunction with my copy of the KJV CAMEO REFERENCE EDITION WITH APOCRYPHA bound in black calfskin leather and with 'the words of Our Lord' while on earth in 'red letter' from CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS [ISBN 978-1-107-60807-8], and also my copy of THE HOLY BIBLE (Quatercentenary Edition) KING JAMES VERSION 1611 TEXT facsimile bound in burgundy leather (over 'hardcover boards') with 'wide margins' and 'large sized print' from OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS [ISBN 978-0-19-955760-8]!)

For a 'personal-hand sized' text-only edition of the KJV [ISBN 978-1-56563-162-5], HENDICKSON BIBLE PUBLISHERS are to be highly commended. While the genuine 'pigskin' leather edition may not be as soft and pliable as the 'calfskin' leather edition, my guess is that in the 'long term' this Bible binding will 'prove' to be 'more sturdy with continual use'.

The book design on this Bible is lovely.....indeed. The pages are 'smyth-sewn' and 'lay completely flat throughout' after the book has been properly 'broken in'. The leather has a 'rich-variable grain' with a beautifully 'distinct' polish and is 'deep coal black' in color! The 'gold gilting' on the pages is as 'lustrous' as any that I have ever seen on a Bible! The 'gold stamping' on the spine and both the 'front and back' covers is 'shiny-bright-brilliant'! The font/typeface is very clear and readable throughout the volume and contrasts quite well with the very smooth 'near pure-white' Bible paper! The single black ribbon marker 'completes' the package perfectly! ( I might also mention that the 'burgundy and deep-tan' box-container supplied 'exquisitely echoes and compliments' the overall design of the Bible 'contained within'!)

To quote, "For everyone who treasures the KJV.....this is it! Buy it for yourself.....and of course for all your family members and friends! I can't think of 'a better' gift for Chistmas or any other occasion!"

    Blessings,

    The 'Christian-Flash'!
