Rhonda5 Stars Out Of 5Great movieJune 27, 2014RhondaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I purchased this movie after reading the positive reviews on this site. I was not disappointed. My family really enjoyed it; we are a family of predominantly males and most movies are geared to the female audience! It is difficult to find good value entertainment and I don't always buy a movie in hopes of a Gospel message when I am looking for entertainment. However, I found this movie to have good message and was quite appropriate for our movie night. As to be expected, there was gang-related violence and blood, but all subjects dealt with were done in a very subtle manner and there were no inappropriate scenes of any nature.... for which I was thankful.

Eric SmithRochester, NYAge: 45-54Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Good, gritty movie about living the faithJanuary 25, 2014Eric SmithRochester, NYAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Brendan King is a young man with a dilemma; how does he live out his Christian faith and new found redemption in the midst of his past life, which is now coming back to haunt him? He has the Lord, but he also has distrust of one of his foster parents, distrust of a police officer waiting for him to fail, adjustments fitting in at school, and of course, the return of those from his old, violent past. This movie shows the fine line of walking your faith and leaning on your own understanding in the midst of adversity. Brendan truly wants to do the right thing (and actually does something heroic that leads to him befriending a troubled young lady with her own secrets to wrestle with), but everything is pulling at him to go back to his old way of handling things. His foster father rightly tells him that it is a spiritual battle against the wickedness the Bible speaks of, but King seems overwhelmed and it leads to some very intense confrontations. This movie starts off a bit slow, but you are drawn into his struggle and his desire to walk right. There are violent moments and adult themes that makes the PG-13 warranted, but this tale of struggle, redemption, and walking in faith is worth a look. A good movie to watch and discuss as a family. And one final note; this movie was filmed in my hometown of Rochester, NY, so I really enjoyed seeing landmarks and locations that I've actually been. Pick up this film; it won't disappoint.

At first, I found it difficult to get into the story line as it has a slow beginning, but half-way, the movie seemed to pick up and interested me. I would recommend this movie to others.

The story grabs your interest from the beginning and keeps it throughout the movie. The movie does not shy away from naming Jesus as Savior and faith in Him as the source of living a changed life. The acting was good and the plot believable. The language was clean, but some violent scenes and the topic of abortion may be too mature or graphic for children under 13. So the PG-13 rating seems appropriate.
