I found this book to be an excellent resource for teaching writing to my 8 year old. The practice exercises are very helpful in teaching each concept, without being dry and boring for the student. The writing assignments allow the student to apply new skills as they are learned. This book is both fun and engaging for both parent and student. I have tried other writing courses in our homeschool (which have been far more costly) and did not improve my daughter's writing skills to the degree we have seen with this book. My daughter is an eager learner, but I can see this book being equally effective for a reluctant writer because it builds confidence in each newly-acquired skill. I only wish there was a Just Write 4!

Every once in a while, we stumble upon a perfect fit in our homeschool and the Just Write books are one of those "perfect fits".

My son has completed 1 and 2 and is enjoying book 3. They are very clear, self-explanatory and easy for him to complete independently. They provide a nice foundation for basic writing skills without being too boring, formulaic or mechanical.

My son, who is not a natural writer, has enjoyed working through these books, and I have watched his writing become more natural and fluid.

I agree with the other reviewer - I would love to buy a Just Write 4!!
