Many had listed Gene Green's commentary on Jude/2 Peter as one of the best commentaries on those books to date. This may well be true (as I am unfamiliar with others). However, I wasn't blown away as I expected to be. Some very difficult passages weren't explained in a coherent manner and only a limited amount of opposing perspectives were considered. However, I have found this to be a rarity in the BECNT series (see Thomas Schreiner's excellent work on Romans for an example of just how in depth and interactive the BECNT series can be).

I was very impressed with his treatment of the authorship of II Peter. I considered it to be a very balanced approach that still seeks to be faithful to the Bible as the Word of God. Although Green affirms Petrine authorship (as would I), he is careful not to overstate his case. He admits that there is still much work to be done and is not arrogant enough to call his work the final authority on the subject.
