I went through this book with a small group and it was great! It not only does an in depth study of the book of Jonah, but it inspires you to go and preach the gospel to all the nations. I wouldn't trade this study with any other.

It was bought by someone else and I took note of the Author and found it on the CBD website. Saved it in my wish list and waited until payday. It's priceless in more ways than one! I have spent years studying that book and no two times did I get the lesson learned except one. It and Nahum are the only two books that end with a question mark!!!

Great Bible Study which challenges you to see life's interruptions in a positive light. Life doesn't always turn out like you plan but God knows exactly where you are and has a plan for your path. Priscilla Shirer does a great job making the old testament stories completely relevant and applicable to our lives today. I highly recommend this study!

"Jonah" is a 7-session group Bible study inspired by the events in the book of Jonah. It's a group study where the women meet together once a week for 60-90 minutes. During this group study, you watch a video that is 32-48 minutes long and discuss things from the workbook. The workbook had sentences that you fill in as you watch the video, then it had 5 days worth of work to do at home during the week. Each day has 4-5 pages worth of reading in the workbook. The main theme was about divine interruptions (or interventions).

Basically, if Jonah was given a second chance, we then looked at places in the Bible where people were given a second chance and then were encouraged to discuss times in our lives when God gave you a second chance. We were also encouraged to find a "Nineveh" to reach out to as a group. Our church tends to attract people who are involved in various outreaches. Our problem wasn't that we didn't want to do this but that we're already so busy.

Our group of women knew each other but were not close, and our leader was new to leading Bible studies. I would have liked to discuss some things brought up during the week that were never brought up for group discussion in the Leader's Guide. By the end, we were skipping most of the suggested questions and spent more time discussing the parts that we had questions about.

Also, it seemed like each week we were supposed to open up about ourselves. For example, we're suppose to talk about a time God gave us a second chance. We all agreed God had done so, but either due to "which one to talk about?" or "I'm not telling about that!", only the leader actually answered in front of the group. I think many group Bible studies try to get people to open up more than their level of acquaintance makes comfortable.

So, basically, I enjoyed learning more about the women who attended, but I felt the first few weeks were more about trying to give the answers that the study clearly wanted rather than digging into the (related) topics we were most interested in.

I loved this Bible study for my own personal spiritual growth. This was our ladies group second study. This would be better suited for a group that already had connections. The questions were deep and our group had trouble sharing since we were just getting to know one another. The questions also seemed to be a bit "off" from what we would view on the dvd lesson. Many of the questions had negative responses needed, such as "recall the last time one decision led you on a downward spiral of rebellion? or What "pigsty" experience where you were at your lowest? or When you have been the betrayer how have the action of the person you offended been like or unlike Christ?" Most of the content seemed to connect but quite a few questions were just really hard to find answers for. I loved this study though. It gives new perspective in so many areas. I would highly recommend to a group that has done several studies together already.
