I love this book! I purchased several copies of this book and have given them to the ladies at chuch and special friends. i plan to get more when i catch them on sale again and will give the to family and friends! This should be a daily devotion book for every Christian!
Test the spirits whether they are of God. Do not add to the word lest you be found to be a liar. That is what the Bible tells us. There are constant warnings in scripture about being discerning and taking heed and being watchful. This book is written in first person as if it is from God's mouth. That's adding to the word. Do your research, Sarah Young is channeling - just as New Agers take dictation from "unknown spirits". How quickly we forget the subtlety and cunning of the devil. These devotions are filled with New Age implications. Is there some truth? Of course. But a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Warren Smith was saved out of the New Age Movement and wrote a book entitled "Another Jesus Calling". Read that first and then decide if you want to fill your mind with this. This book's popularity just proves the lack of discernment even among professing Christians.
Each devotion is filled with His truths and His guidance. It is a book that brings the scriptures to life each day in a way that will touch your heart and transform your soul. I have given " Jesus Calling" as a gift to many of my friends and family. I sent it to a young woman who was in prison and when she was released the other inmates begged her to leave it so that they could continue to read the devotions each day! When we see ourselves through God's eyes there is hope in all circumstances. Sarah Young does a beautiful job of shining that hope into each day with this exceptional book of daily devotions.
I have used this book as a daily devotion for years. I had the original version and the binding had started to break and pages were falling out. I replaced it with this beautiful Deluxe Edition and love it! I have also purchased several copies for friends. I recommend it to anyone who wants to hear messages from the Savior that always feel like they are meant directly for you and your current circumstance.
If you are a solid Christian and follow the scriptures, then do your research before reading this book. Immediately upon reading the introduction I was pricked in my spirit and it just didn't sit right with me. So I got online and started to do research and it confirmed my suspicions. The book is very New Age and Sarah Young, while I don't believe had these intentions when she wrote these devotionals, has a background and has done extensive reading in philosophy (she has a degree in philosophy) and New Age mysticism. She infuses these concepts into the book and at one point in the introduction uses the phrase, "I knew that God communicated with me through the bible, but I yearned for more." Which makes us question the sufficiency of scripture. This phrase is missing from this new edition but was in the original. If you read the books she recommends, these are also New Age mystic books. Thomas Nelson changed the original introduction to this new one, which doesn't read so New Age, because they got so much flack from the original one. Also, capitalizing words such as Presence, Peace, Love etc. is not biblical but very New Age in concept. The only words that should be capitalized is words that are actually God! Like Jesus, He, Him or the Word! Peace and Love, while they are representative of God -are not God! So please, please do your research before you just get on the band wagon and follow what's popular. While I don't think it was Sarah's intent, this book is not biblical in many respects and needs to be used with caution! As one other reviewer stated, just because it is Christian books stores and everyone else is reading it, does not make it biblical!
