This is the best devotional book I have ever read. I have bought several of these books and given them as gifts. I am reading mine for the second year. It is so exciting when someone calls me and says,"Have you read the devotion for today? It was just what I needed."
I find this to be by far the best/my favorite version of this marvelous book. Having the Scriptures included on each page ensures that you read those each day, along with the daily selection of devotional listening to Jesus. The Holy Spirit never fails to speak through these pages in an extraordinarily personal and timely way. This book is a life changer, because Jesus is The life changer, and you will meet Him here.
This popular book was written by the method of a Hindu practice called "channeling." The New Age practitioners have adopted this practice, too. And sadly, so has Sarah Young. In the introduction she states that the Bible was not enough for her so she sought out other sources and started this "listening" practice. She claims to have heard God speak to her and wrote down everything He said. People, if this is true, then we need to open the Scripture Canon and insert this book! She states it is not "inspired" like scripture, yet she states that it is direct communication from God: that's what inspired scripture is!
This book is not innocent and helpful -- it is very dangerous. Please stay away and tell all you can to stay away!
Thank you for everyone who stood up and gave this a 1 star review. I received this as a gift, and yes, I had heard all of the wonderful praise about this book. The more I read it, the more uncomfortable I became. I found myself constantly grabbing my Bible and looking up verses because this "did not feel right". It got to the point where I couldn't force myself to pick it up and read any more. Please people, listen to the little voice of discernment in your spirit, I do not believe that the majority of this book is accurate and think you need to use caution.
