I purchased this book for summer review because my daughter is transferring into a charter school that teaches Getty-Dubay handwriting. It really is a much better handwriting system than the ball and stick system used by most schools. It is faster and has a distinctive and noticeably neater look, with a smoother transition to cursive down the road. It is somewhat difficult for kids who have already learned ball-and-stick to transition. It's just a matter of tons of practice. Teaching handwriting at home is like teaching a teenager to drive -- better if someone else does it!!!

My children are about to start taking formal classes and I wanted them to work on their handwriting skills. I should have ordered the later books for my older children, but that was my mistake. It gets the job done. I have 2 boys and I think italics cursive is the way to go for them, my daughter prefers traditional cursive but she is very artistic and I think that this will just add to her skills in lettering.

Am using this with my kindergartener, and am liking it. It is very easy to use we only do 1 page per day so she is not overwhelmed.

I began my 5 year olds doing ball and stick method, and then I found this writing style. It has been hard to transition them into doing it this way, but I bought these in the hopes that they will have neater handwriting...especially when it comes to them learning how to write in cursive.
