Publisher's Description

Sin is very much like an unruly weed which creeps into a healthy garden. Its presence is initially unnoticed, but soon the damage becomes evident, its distortion unmistakable. Girls today have to watch out for the "weeds" which will surely entangle their testimony and affect their fruit - the outgrowth that is seen from a commitment made to follow Christ. Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour?, is a 12-week topical Bible study, which shows young women how to recognize and address these problem areas, while encouraging them to maintain a Christ-centered and God-honoring testimony.

Endorsements

Having reviewed the book, "Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour?", I am much impressed. This book is very thought-provoking and very challenging. I would encourage parents to take the time and work through this book with each of your daughters. I would encourage youth pastor's wives to use it as a study guide as you strive to influence young girls to walk with God.

Although this book was created for the development of young women, this is a book for all women. The concepts are timeless and the writing refreshing. Karen lays the groundwork for a life that will be blessed of God if we will learn to bear fruit in accordance with His Word.

From the perspectives of both a pastor and a father of two teen girls, I have to say that Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour? is the best study I have found on the subject. This book will open a teen's eyes not only to what the Bible has to say about being a Christian woman, but also to the influences that are attempting to tear apart her life.

Q & A From the Author

WHY DID I WRITE THIS BOOK?

Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour? is a result of my familiarity with young Christian women. I came to know the Lord in 1987, long after my teen years! I began working with high school girls in 2002, when asked to teach a Sunday school class. I saw the need for solid, fundamental material which would challenge and convict them in their spiritual walk. I had been freelance writing for both secular and Christian publications, so the next logical step seemed to pen a book!

WHAT MAKES MY BOOK SO DIFFERENT FROM THE REST?

Many Christian non-fiction books on the market today are an easy read, lacking depth, direction, and Biblical substance. Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour? points young women to Christ and does not mask the issues with hip lingo or hypocrisy. Those who are serious-minded about their Christianity, and Sunday school/Bible study teachers who desire fundamental lessons, would benefit the most from this publication. Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour? is intended to assist with spiritual growth and can be used to stimulate discussion of ordinary topics which are age-old temptations and trials for any Christian.

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I was born and raised in Philadelphia. Moved to Northwestern PA in 2006. I have been married to my husband, Ted, since 1986 and we have five children, ages 15, 17, 20, 22 and 24.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I began working with high school girls in 2002, when asked to teach a Sunday school class. I saw the need for solid, fundamental material which would challenge and convict them in their spiritual walk.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I would hope that the reader(s) sees the advantages to relying upon God's Word for every situation that comes into her life, and that God will give her victory to overcome the struggles and issues that affect her life.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I was reminded of the struggles I had as a young women, and used much of those "flashbacks" to drive the point home. The very last story used in my book, reflects an even deeper, more personal experience for which I am eternally grateful.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I have always had a thirst to read. I don't really have a specific favorite, but am most affected by writers who can write transparently, sharing their emotions strait-forward.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  "Is Your Fruit Sweet or Sour?" is a Book of the Year 2013 winner, in the young adult category, with the Christian Small Publisher Association.
