Eva P. Scott5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Movie with Outtakes and Lessons IncludedMay 25, 2017Eva P. ScottQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was surprised people said the acting was not very good, and that it started out slow. To me, the film was setting the stage for the time period. This film reminded me a lot of going to the country to visit my grandparents when I was a kid.
The movie is somewhat similar to the Little House on the Prairie series but a different place and setting.
The movie is historical in feel. It teaches not only the love of God, but it gives a feel for the struggle of whether to be involved in a war effort. It teaches how a family should pull together to solve problems. It shows struggles through children's eyes.
One thing not mentioned by anyone in the reviews is the movie includes a separate section about the making of the movie that can be used as additional lessons, and is set up that way. It talks about all of the people it takes to make the movie and how each of those groups of people are related to the love of God.
It talks about how they changed things to make them fit the times, the fact the movie was actually set in Texas with the Texas humidity and how they worked through that. It gives a couple of scenes that were left out of the movie and why they had to do that. They talked to the children in the movie. It was their first time to be in one.
I loved the movie, and I passed it on to someone who had older children. One of them saw me later and said how much she enjoyed the movie. -

A good example of love and forgiveness is shown. Also appreciate the definite need of a personal commitment to God as portrayed by the young boy/man.

We have purchased several as gifts. The acting is not all of stellar quality, but the storyline is amazing. The song is amazing. The doctrine is good and sound. One of the most edifying movies we have ever watched! It has given us such an appreciation for the song - The Love Of God. If you are looking for good, wholesome entertainment that has sound and edifying message - you wont be disappointed!

Lisa WThe Ozarks, MOAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great movie about a beloved hymn.November 18, 2013Lisa WThe Ozarks, MOAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really enjoyed this movie. The acting is not the best but due to the story that can be overlooked.
I loved the special features having the song contest at the end. It was great getting to watch all those people sing the song.
This movie was a good and clean -family entertainment and along with that -a history lesson also. I really wish that they would make more movies about the history's of some of our hymn's -it was quite amazing when you find out the REASON behind some of the songs. Some other songs that might interest you with thier history is --i have decided to follow Jesus, and It is well with my soul.
Great movie and interesting. -
chili5 Stars Out Of 5A good family filmMarch 16, 2016chiliQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My husband and I enjoyed this movie although it would be a good movie for a family with kids. The child actors are cute and the story line enjoyable. It may be done by actors who aren't professionals, but it's still a good movie.
