Theres blood on the bottom of my shoes. I rinse the soles, knowing the police will trace the impression of the rubber pattern and determine that theyre Skechers. They will find the charge for the shoe store on my credit card, proving they're mine.

Thus begins, If I Run by Terri Blackstock. Casey Cox was talking to me from the very first line of the book. She was talking to me, one on one. I was the one Casey Cox trusted to tell her story toand believe me! It is quite a story!! I followed Casey as she hastily packed a few things and left home. I followed her on the bus. I followed her to the seedy side of a strange town where she got a new name. I was there when she made a friend in Miss Lucy. I followed her to the other side of the country in her attempt to escape the justice she knew was seeking to destroy her. I was there when she faced evil.

If I Run is without a doubt, one of the best suspense novels I have read. It kept me reading all through the night, which was both great and awful. Great because the story is so worth losing sleep over, but awful because I had to leave Casey at the end. Next March cannot come soon enough for me to read the sequel!

Blackstocks writing is superb. From the first line, I am drawn into Caseys world. This is one of those books that I read without realizing I was reading. What I mean is that when I opened the book and began reading the first page, I stepped into another world that I stayed in until I read the last page and closed the book.

I heartily recommend If I Run by Terri Blackstock.

Guess I did not realize this was the start of a new series. This book centers around 2 characters, Casey Cox is on the run from corrupt police who have killed her best friend and framed Casey for the murder. Dylan Roberts is a war hero running from his own ghosts, who wants justice for the death of his friend and is assigned to find Casey Cox. How the two avoid each other is the crux of this story. Who will learn to trust and who will find a sense of security will be the discovery of this story

Oh, my goodness! Be sure you have plenty of time to read and all the books in this series before you start. Casey Cox is on the run. She found the body of her good friend, Brent, stabbed multiple times. She cannot trust the police, so she leaves town, in fear of her life. Dylan Roberts was a friend of Brent's since childhood, though they hadn't seen each other for a couple of years so he doesn't know Casey. Dylan was an investigator in the army, honorably discharged recently because of PTSD. Brent's parents hire him to find Casey, since she is the prime suspect. Casey is a character easy to be sympathetic toward. She is friendly and likes to help people, even when it is dangerous for her because she could be found. She doesn't like lying and being deceitful, but really has no choice. Dylan is also a very likable character, working the case with integrity, investigating on his own into Brent's death and also the death of Casey's police officer father thirteen years earlier, all while dealing with his PTSD. If you enjoy reading suspense, don't miss this series.

I received a complementary copy of the book from the author, but this did not influence my opinion. All thoughts are my own.

When a book starts off "There is blood on the bottom of my shoes" you know it's got to be good. I read this book in two days. I could not put it down. Blackstock is a master story teller of suspense and she kept me turning the pages. This book deals with a lot of issues, murder, bad cops, child trafficking, and PTSD. This may be my favorite book by this author thus far. Believe me, I've read most of her books. That is why she is one of my favorite authors of all time. I highly recommend this book. My only complaint is it ended and I have to wait for the next book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This review was written for If I Run - eBook.
I was given this book for a review. It took a few chapters to really get into the book but once I got involved in the story I almost couldn't put it down. My sleep and work got in the way of my reading! When I got to the end I am now anxiously waiting for the next book to come out. I highly recommend this to mystery readers. No romance involved, maybe later!
