We have used Horizons from K-6th now and I can say that it is a solid math program. At times I didn't get why they were doing something but now at the end I see the big picture and have a child who really knows his math skills. I think this is one program many don't utilize the teaching book often enough. And there were times I taught a concept in another manner to best explain something. The program does introduce topics early but with the spiral method the child builds on previous knowledge over the years. Just about the time a subject seems to get boring or too much it shifts into another topic. I liked the tests every 10 lessons to insure the child knows the material. The tests are usually the information from several lessons back or farther. So the child had a few days or a week from the last lessons to the testing. I do think in some areas more teaching would help understand a concept but there are loads of online options for a quick video. We did not buy any manipulative package over the years but did have on hand basic manipulatives. Overall, at the end of it now, I can say it's a good program. I would encourage people to stick with it all the way or just do either K-3 or 4-6. Since concepts are introduced early it would be harder to move into this program after 4th.

We love Horizons Math. I wish the teacher book gave more in depth teaching strategies though! The teacher book tells what the student is going to learn, but doesnt give strategies for teaching. Thank goodness for Pinterest!! My son loves Horizons Math!!! The text offers games and challenges which is great for a competitive boy!!

My 2 kids are doing very well with these math books. This is our first year using them and they have enjoyed the colorful pages and the different array of problems in each lesson.

This product has wonderful illustrations which makes the pages more inviting to kids. Academically the math is difficult but is explained step by step. I have used Horizon for all three of my children.
