We have been using Horizons Math since my son was in the 2nd grade. He had been struggling and hated math.He has done beautifully with it!He even likes it now.I would say that the teacher book for 5th and 6th grade isn't as helpful as the publisher claims, except for additional worksheets and for the answer keys, but by the 5th and 6th grade, the student is more than equipped to handle most of the information himself anyway. Our son is almost finished with the 6th grade book, and has taken a placement test for Saxon's prealgebra/algebra courses. After reviewing prealgebra, we are confident that our son is equipped to finish the prealgebra by the end of the summer, and will start Algebra 1 in September of this year!Horizons has definitely worked for this son, and so far, for our other 2 boys as well! They love the constant review and the challenges, and they feel equipped to meet the challenges of this curriculum!

We have been homeschooling for 3 years now. In homeschooling there is much by way of information, opinions, and options on which curriculum to use. After much consideration I settled on this material for my oldest, at the time being 4th grade and coming from ABeka material. It worked for him nicely, but we could never finish the book in the 'school year'. I tried to switch him this year to a different math, but it was a nightmare. It lacked: 1. color, 2. clear expectations for each lesson, and 3. the ability for him to get started and work on his own. All that defines Horizons math! I admit I reluctantly came back to Horizons 6 and couldn't be more pleased! I evaluated where he needed to start level 6 just from his strengths and from the other math he'd done (that didn't work) and found that we didn't have to start at Lesson 1. At this point, we even look to be on target to complete grade 6 by the end of the 'school year'. We plan to enter him back into 'regular' school next year and I believe he will accomplish that -in math- with ease. Oh, and Horizons has math-worked riddles throughout that keeps him challenged and additionally motivated in each lesson. I usually never have to probe him to finish the work.

My 6th grade daughter looks forward to completing her lessons each day. She loves the fun scripture puzzles as well as the simplicity of each lesson.

I like that the lessons circle back to reinforce previous lessons. The practice worksheets are a nice plus along with short quizzes after each set of 10 lessons. These prepare her for the final tests.

We have used Horizons Math Books for 6 straight years now.

I highly recommend Horizons math programs.
