Hidden in Dreams is pure Davis Bunn! A really likable character with an interesting dilemma, some really disreputable villains, and the knight in white armor to save the day.

Dr. Elena Burroughs has written a book on dream interpretation that is being attacked by other experts including one who demolished her during a debate. Her sister, Rachel, comes to her for help - a rare if ever occurrence, telling her of subjects in a clinical trial that are all having the same dream - she is skeptical at the least - patients who all have the same dream? And then she begins to have that dream - and the consequences could spell the end of economies around the globe. Elena, Rachel, her nemesis, Dr. Jacob Rawlings, and her boss, Reed Thompson begin a journey through doubt, danger, and double-cross. I couldn't put it down!

Davis takes current conditions and puts a conspiracy spin on them while enthralling and entangling us in his web of words. Hidden in Dreams is 4.5 stars out of five in my book and a must read if you like a fantastic mystery with lots of twists and turns and hairpin curves.

There is a reason that Davis Bunn is an award winning author with national bestsellers to his credit- he's just plain good. And not only is he good, he is also diverse in his writing which is kind of fun as a reader to get different genres for the price of one. In his new sequel to The Book of Dreams, Davis Bunn brings Hidden in Dreams with the ever controversial Dr. Elena Burroughs once again at the center of things trying to pick up the pieces of her life that has somewhat spiraled out of control. As she is trying to rebuild her professional reputation, heal from a romance gone wrong and move forward in her life, she finds herself in the middle of yet another controversy involving dreams.

This time the controversy revolves around a nightmare that is very vivid and real and quite specific and is a warning in nature as several people around the globe are having the exact same dream. Elena herself is one of the "dreamers" and a real sense of foreboding and the need to share the news with the world, is present in every single person that dreams the dream. As Elena is trying to follow God's lead on the whole dream phenomenon and what it might mean, she learns a lot along the way, about who God is, how he operates and who exactly He has brought into her life and for what purpose- that's a lot for a girl to learn! Also present in this story is her arch nemesis Dr. Jacob Rawlings who all but ruined her professional reputation through a debate in which he dressed her down quite soundly with regards to her dream interpretation. However because of his own journey and situation with a client having the "dream" he is forced to re-think his stand on dreams himself, and as a result in working together, the two forge a friendship.

This story was very interesting to read and its pacing was picture perfect as the mystery and different parts to the story unfold. It was that book that kept you reading for sure to find out in the end what was going on and what it meant for all the people involved, end of the world stuff, or...? Very well done.

If you enjoy a page turner with great characters, a spiritual journey and a bit of mystery, I think you should pick up Hidden in Dreams by Davis Bunn. It's a great read.

I really enjoyed reading the second book about Elena. I was disappointed in how it started out as none of the first book characters are in this book but I was soon drawn in to the new story with different dreams. The story has a nice, unexpected twist to it. I love Davis Bunn's writings and you won't be disappointed with this book.

What if 15 strangers from around the world received the same unusual message in a dream? Would anyone pay attention? Would people question if such an unlikely occurrence is truly as it appears or wonder if something is happening at a deeper, perhaps more sinister, level?

Davis Bunn wraps us in a quickly moving story that refuses to allow the reader to settle in to the comfort of believing we know how the story will end. Even though I wouldn't personally list international finance in my top ten greatest interests, the idea of global financial collapse would clearly affect us all and provides a gripping core to the plot. The tale tugs at the question of what could happen if people who do not have the best interest of others at heart have control of scientific and technological discoveries.

The characters are very believable and compel us to continue reading to see what will happen. As always, Bunn's characters show how faith and prayer help them through the crises that life brings to them, and how, similarly, the absence of faith leaves individuals unprepared and ill-equipped to deal with the same circumstances.

While not one of my favorite Davis Bunn novels, I found this book to be a very quick and captivating read and would recommend it to others.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and was not required to give a positive review.

In this sequel to Book of Dreams, several people from all over the world are having the same terrifying dreams. The dreams predict severe economic times ahead.

The dreams have come to the attention of an executive with a cutting edge drug company. The company is about to release a new drug for treating ADHD. The drug is revolutionary and effective. There is only one problem. One of the test subjects taking the drug has been having the troubling dreams. The company must have the dream issue cleared up before they announce their revolutionary drug.

Dr. Elena Burroughs is asked to help figure out how the dreams are happening and what can be done about them. Then she starts having the dreams as well.

Elena goes public about the dreams, at the drug company's request. Then the economic situation and Elena's world falls apart. Her life, and the lives of those she loves, are in danger.

Unfortunately, I don't think this novel is as good as the first in the series. This plot is very complex and I felt at the end that some of the loose ends were not sufficiently tied up.

Christianity is well presented as Elena and her "boss" are strong Christians. There is a character initially opposing Elena who is not a Christians, so the contrast is well developed.

Bunn is a good writer so the book reads well. However, at the height of the action, when all seems lost for Elena, the calvary came to rescue her, so to speak. That was unrealistic, I thought.

This is a good read, but is not the best I've read from Bunn. There is a Reading Group Guide at the end of the novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.
