Henry Virkler's first edition of this book was one of my texts in seminary. Many people bristle at the whole concept of hermeneutics, because it seems to imply that only scholars can interpret Scripture properly. However, as Virkler demonstrates, most of the basic principles of hermeneutics are simple common sense. Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, people tend to use everything except common sense in their approach to the Bible. Virkler shows you the right way, and he explains it in very simple and readable terms. I highly recommend this book for pastors and laity alike.
