"A beautifully written glimpse into heaven that will encourage those who doubt and thrill those who believe."
Ron Hall, coauthor of Same Kind of Different as Me
"Do you remember the hospital, Colton?" Sonja said. "Yes, mommy, I remember," he said. "Thats where the angels sang to me."
When Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy, his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they werent expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the months that followeda story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boys trip to heaven and back.
Colton, not yet four years old, told his parents he left his body during the surgeryand authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. He talked of visiting heaven and relayed stories told to him by people he met there whom he had never met in life, sharing events that happened even before he was born. He also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, though he had not yet learned to read.
With disarming innocence and the plainspoken boldness of a child, Colton tells of meeting long-departed family members. He describes Jesus, the angels, how "really, really big" God is, and how much God loves us. Retold by his father, but using Coltons uniquely simple words, Heaven Is for Real offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, "Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses."
Heaven Is for Real will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering the chance to see, and believe, like a child.
Todd Burpo is pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan and a volunteer fireman. He and his wife, Sonja, have four children: Colton is an active teenager; he has an older sister, Cassie; a younger brother, Colby; and a very special sister he met in heaven. Sonja Burpo is a busy mom and pastor's wife. A certified elementary teacher, Sonja is passionate about children's ministry and helping women work through the difficulty of miscarriage.
Lynn Vincent is the New York Times best-selling writer ofHeaven Is for Real and Same Kind of Different As Me. The author or coauthor of ten books, Lynn has sold 12 million copies since 2006. She worked for eleven years as a writer and editor at the national news biweekly WORLD magazine and is a U.S. Navy veteran.
Deise5 Stars Out Of 5I loved!July 13, 2016DeiseQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I loved and really enjoyed the experience of reading this book. In my opinion God is much bigger and powerful than theology can say or try to show about Him! So I could match almost all of the experiences writen in the book with the scriptures; I said "almost all" because I have to read and study more and find the rest. The Bible gives us new things everytime we read, so I am sure there are many more information to learn and match.
I hope you may enjoy the book as I did!

There are only 3 accounts in the Bible where someone actually saw heaven: Ezekiel, Paul, and John. Each of them had an attitude of fear and awe. They were trembling and afraid of the mightiness of God. God did not give them a little chair to sit on next to the Holy Spirit. They fell on their faces like dead men. This book lacks the proper response to seeing the holiness of God face to face.
Another thing you would know from reading your Bibles, is that it is not God's plan to bring people back from the dead to tell others about heaven. When Jesus told the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, the rich man asked Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his brothers. Abraham told him that if they do not believe Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe someone who comes back from the dead. Jesus is telling us that all we need for faith is the Scriptures, not near death experiences.

A wake up call to be the best I can be as I live, why? Because heaven is so real! We never know when we will finish our earthly life and be there too, right?
This in one of the book I would recommend reading for those missing their loved ones: miscarriage, sudden death, and those facing sickness and deathbed.
Susan Gruener5 Stars Out Of 5A must!April 14, 2015Susan GruenerQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This is the most compelling book I've read on the reality of Heaven. This is a very good read and easy to read by everyone. The events little Todd remembers after his time in surgery are amazing and can't be explained. You will love this book and pass it on to others to read, as I have. The movie about the book did not do the book justice. If you liked the movie, you will love the book!
Q: I was wondering if the coming war that Todd thinks is Armageddon happens during his normal lifetime or long afterward? It wasn't clear to me if Colton was seeing this from heaven (perhaps after the rapture) during Todd's lifetime?? or if it occurs a long long time in the future after Todd has been in heaven for a long time??
The book does not clarify or set a timeline for when "The Coming War" is supposed to take place.
Q: Why is the Spainsh version cheaper than the english version? CONFUSEd
The cost for this item is determined by the publisher.
Q: Would this book be able to understand by a 7 yr old? I'm thinking of buying a book for my niece for Easter and I'm wondering if an advanced reader who is a believer would be able to understand this book...is it children vocabulary or rewritten from an adults perspective and editing?
This book is written from an adult perspective and contains scenarios that may be difficult for even a well-read 7 year-old to understand.
