kdd5 Stars Out Of 5Heart of the CountryMay 1, 2017kddQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This review was written for Heart of the Country. This story was very touching and brought about much of my own personal emotional reflection. The story is redemptive and the characters flawed but worth transforming. Excellent writing as is everything Rene Gutteridge pens.

Each chapter was written from a different person's point of view, Faith, her sister Olivia, Faith's husband Luke, her mom, Catherine and her dad, Calvin. I think trying to figure out who Catherine was is what made me hesitant to like the book but once I figured out that she was Faith's dead mother I was able to understand and enjoy the book.

PMayesRaton, NMAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Powerful story of forgivenessJuly 15, 2014PMayesRaton, NMAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Faith and Luke, a young married couple living the high life, completely fall apart when Luke is arrested on fraud charges. Faith runs home, a place she hasn't been in ten years, and has to face her sister, Olivia, and her father and deal with the death of her mother, Catherine, ten years prior.
Luke, the younger son, felt he has always been looked down upon by his older brother and father. He left the family business but when he was arrested on fraud charges, he has to come crawling back to his family asking for forgiveness.
This story is an interesting take on the story of the Prodigal Son and the forgiveness necessary to restore families and lives. Make sure to have tissues handy as several times, I had to wipe tears from my eyes.
Each chapter was written from the perspective of either Faith, Luke, Olivia, or Catherine. Although this style can be confusing, the authors have done an excellent job of bringing you into the story and emotionally connecting you with each of the characters right away.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would highly recommend this book to others. -

It makes me laugh and cry. The talent of the writers is very impressive. The jumping from one character's voice to another's took some getting used to, but it did fill in the story very well. I love writing that is so descriptive and tells a sweet and gentle story about family and faith. The touching theme was lightened up with humorous remarks. This is creatively and beautifully written.

jsrn185 Stars Out Of 5Amazing heartfelt storyJune 4, 2014jsrn18This review was written for Heart of the Country. What would you do when everything seems to be going wrong? Would you run from God and the life you know or try and hold on to the faith and love you have in life? This story describes that situation exactly. It is well written and has been transformed into a wonderful movie. I highly recommend both!
