After completing a few pages, I feel that some things can be figured out but overall, it would be best with a teacher's manual. Also, if you don't have the appropriate Bible version, the words that they give you on the pages may not match.
Although this book has you look up scripture, fill in blanks, has projects, maps, music, heroes of the faith, scenarios, and a glossary. I still am not entirely sure if I am satisfied with this book for $20 and still needing to purchase a teacher's manual for an additional $49.50 in order to get an answer key and clarity on certain things and on the best Bible to use. I wasn't prepared for that. The entire set costs $80 something and I wasn't looking for such a steep investment.
KathleenAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great On Its OwnJuly 25, 2011KathleenAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Although this is part of a curriculum set, this book works quite well as a stand alone bible lesson for my second grader. Each day I typically read aloud the section of scripture noted at the top of the page, then my son does 1-2 pages in the book. I allow my son to look up any additional scripture needed to complete the lesson on his own. Some of the work pages are met with more eagerness than others, but that will be true of any book, I think.
We are only about 12 pages into the book, but having skimmed through the entire book, I am excited by what my son will be learning and I am VERY satisfied with the value of my purchase. As someone with a VERY tight budget (& who typically finds ways to reuse rather than repurchase), I've decided the value is so great, I won't mind purchasing this book again when my next child is ready for it. It's worth every penny.
Q: Could we do this with just purchasing the worktext? I'm wanting to maybe just purchase the workbook and readers for my kiddos. Will that hinder the curriculum, or would it be OK to just go through the worktext alone (and maybe the two readers)? Thank you.
Use of the Student Worktext without the Teacher's Edition is not recommended. The Teacher's Edition provides reduced student pages with answers filled in, teaching helps, background information, unit reviews, reproducible activity pages and more.
