    GRACE

More Than We Deserve Greater Than We Imagine

    By Max Lucado

Grace is God's greatest work and He is giving it to us. But what is Grace? Grace is God replacing our dying diseased filled heart with His heart. When we are accused by the world and by ourself we feel the fiery wrath of condemnation, but Jesus gave up everything for me to free me from the punishment of condemnation.

But forgiveness does not eliminate guilt because guilt can be the catalyst that makes us want to change. Satan's guilt enslaves while God's guilt frees. God punishes my sin while forgiving me the sinner.

While God already knows all my sins I need to confess to Him, this is the evidence of my trust in His grace.

God wants us to be His children, He chose us and wants to give us His name. He loves us and we don't have to earn it. God's love and His salvation is not performance based. It is a gift, the "perfect personal gift" - Grace.

At the end of the book is a reader's guide by Kate Etue. There are 12 studies on for each chapter so that the reader might delve deeper into the different aspects of grace. There are additional Bible verses and review questions about grace.

GRACE is perfect for personal, family, or group study. The meat of the book is 151 pages with an additional 50 pages for the reader's guide. Grace will be a true blessing to your heart as you come to further understand this gift from God that will reshape your life.

Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine

    By: Max Lucado

    Book Description

    Grace.

We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace period. The seedy politician falls from grace. Musicians speak of a grace note. We describe an actress as gracious, a dancer as graceful. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and premeal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means.

But do we really understand it? Have we settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a church sign. Never causes trouble or demands a response. When asked, "Do you believe in grace?" who could say no?

Max Lucado asks a deeper question: Have you been changed by grace? Shaped by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Softened by grace? Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken to your senses by grace?

God's grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A white-water, riptide, turn-you-upside-downness about it. Grace comes after you. It rewires you. From insecure to God secure. From regret riddled to better-because-of-it. From afraid to die to ready to fly.

Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off.

Let's make certain grace gets you.

This book gave me a renewed perspective on grace. It reminded me that I am to be a living example of the grace of God. It gave me a clearer picture of what that meant. And it made me even more grateful for a God of grace that stooped down to my level and saved my life. Max Lucado is a fantastic author and conveys the message of this book in a very clear, down-to-earth way. Grace is an encouraging, convicting book; I would recommend it to everyone-whether you've already experienced grace, or want to.

In his book called 'Grace', Max Lucado brings to life the true essence of God's grace. Lucado receives much well-deserved praise from many well-known Christian leaders for his latest book. Too long have people misunderstood and misused the term grace. Lucado sets himself on a mission to clarify what it means when we talk about the grace of God. The author attempts to show how scripture allows Christians to rest in their salvation, without the need to worry if and when they might lose it. Furthermore, it takes an in depth look at what some may deem as "once saved always saved" theology as he tackles the misunderstanding of 'cheap grace'.

Upon receiving this book, I was a bit speculative, because I have studied and continue to look for good resources on grace, for I consider it the most misunderstood term in Christianity today. However, when I began to read Lucado's book, I was amazed at how simple he made the complex aspects of grace. Not only does he does he explain it, he writes of it in an applicable manner while addressing key arguments which people have against it. This book is good for many uses, such as personal reading or group discussions, as it contains a reader's guide which poses key questions of the major concepts discussed. All in all, a 5 out of 5 stars.
