God's not dead, but some screenwriters' sensibilities sure are.

I just watched God's Not Dead, and I have to say that this movie is cringe worthy, horrendous, and frankly an insult to any self-respecting Christian's intellect. I'm a devout believer, and I love a good movie that makes you think, and especially one that does a good job of witnessing to the masses. This does neither. Any non-believer who watches this movie will be insulted and will likely not watch more than ten minutes. Every character who not a Christian is portrayed as a senseless, mindless, stupid jerk.
There are a few good arguments made by the young man in his philosophy class, and the production value is good. Those two things are what kept me from giving this poorly written movie one star. But those qualities are more than piled over with the ridiculous plot points, overacting, and completely nave writing. My seven-year-old daughter could have written a far more nuanced story. It was all I could do to continue watching during scenes that included a secular reporter screwing up her face and practically spitting her mindless questions at the Duck Dynasty guy and his wife, or after watching the philosophy professor physically grab the Christian kid in a crowded hallway and threaten him in front of a bunch of other college kids who didn't even notice or seem to care, or after listening to the kid's "Christian" girlfriend who yells at and breaks up with him when he won't just sign paper for his class declaring that God is dead, or hearing that his own parents don't understand why he would want to defend his faith. I could go on, but you get the point.
This movie is a travesty and there are people who should be ashamed of peddling such garbage. God is not dead, and frankly He deserves a whole lot better than this tripe.
Excellent. Relevant. A setting our college kids face every day. He faced the opposition (his professor) in a powerful way with counter questions. i was so proud of him and pray that this generation will follow suit. There is a cost.
I think the movie was done well to bring out thoughts to the Lord but it is not biblical. It is based on satans lie that you will not surely die. But the Bible says Death is a sleep until resurrection morning.
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, Ecclesiates 9:5
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. Job 14:12
