Like everyone else I too was excited to get this book after a long hiatis.

What I liked about the book is short, and what I didn't like about it is long.

The book protrayed Ann as perfect, and as an author of the O'Malley series. Really??? The conversation at the ballpark Ann answering "Lisa's phone", seemed kind of childish

Paul asked Ann's friends about Ann to seek out a relationship with Ann. Paul needed to do his own research by asking Ann about Ann. And Ann didn't even get mad about Paul asking her friends about her first. Ugghhh, I would have been mad, and what kind of friends share that private information anyway???

Then there was that whole bit about not having children? There really wasn't an explanation as to why...bad childhood, not mother material, etc. And who gets off a whole week from marriage? I would like a whole week off per month from my family too, but do I get it nnnoooo.

I did like what suspense when there was suspense.

Was I disappointed in this book absolutely, will I buy another Dee Henderson book absolutely. Just one bad book doesn't keep me from wanting to stop reading her books.

I preordered this book as soon as I saw Dee Henderson wrote it. I am a big fan. I will not do that again. This review is hard to write. I also find it hard to believe she wrote this book. There was no suspense as there was no action. The talking facts and figuring the cases was somewhat interesting. The 2 main characters were totally unlikeable and flat. I forced myself to finish this book. Paul was a good cop but their retationship was strange to say the least. Ann was like a robot trying to figure out how to be human. There was nothing she could not do. She was a pilot, a homicide investigator, an artist, a sheriff and the strangest of all, an author that wrote my beloved O'Malley Series. I found no love in the relationship as it was like bargaining back and forth. In order for her to get married she had to have 4 hours a day just for herself and 1 week a month apart from her husband. Oh, and no children. Just truly disappointed in this book.

I have enjoyed Dee Henderson's past books, so my expectations were fairly high for this book. What disappointed me the most was the fact that Ann, who was the main character, wouldn't get married unless Paul agreed to her being able to take a week off of the marriage every month. Also, she was not about to have kids, even though he wanted to have them. How sad! In real life, how many married women take a week a month off from their husbands? That is not godly, and I think that kind of thinking does not please God. Also, according to the Bible, we are made to have kids. They are a blessing from the Lord. This author is giving permission to women to make all the calls in marriage, and the man comes across as weak. I would not recommend this book.

i agree with an earlier review that stated the main character (anne) presented a selfish and ungodly view of marriage. i would like to add that the book seemed to be an attempt by the author to pay homage to herself. there were countless references in this 400 page book to "anne"'s skillful writing of the omalley series- which was actually written by dee henderson if i'm not mistaken. i also felt that the story dragged out a lot longer than it needed to (as someone who cannot start a book without finishing it this was a major problem for me) and included a lot of confusing and unnecessary details.
