I just couldn't keep reading it. I didn't want it to end and the story to be finished!
Taylor, Eli's aunt, and Reece, his uncle, vie for Eli's love and affection. Reece blames Taylor's brother for Eli's mother's death and so he distances himself from her.
Eli, wonderful four-year-old Eli, is a charmer to the nth degree. His insights and comments made me laugh – and cry – and laugh more.
Their story, as it is pieced together like the quilt Taylor is making for Eli, will keep you enthralled to the end.
I felt Loree cut the ending too short — I would have welcomed more detail after the denouement, but I still gave For Love of Eli 5 stars. -

Eli is an adorable, fun-loving, typical mischievous 5 year old boy whose father, Eliot is killed while serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan and his mother, Margo dies in an accident not long after. Surprisingly Margo has stated that Eliot's sister, Taylor Bradley, who owns/operates an inn, Misty Wolf in Blacksburg, Virginia is to have custody of Eli if anything happens to her. Margo's brother, Pediatrician Reese Montgomery is not happy with this at all, he was expecting to have custody of Eli. Reese blames Eliot for his sister's death and has been angry with Taylor ever since. But Reese is again surprised when Taylor suggests they both share custody of Eli, with Eli spending every other weekend with his uncle.
Eli struggles with the death of his parents, his grief and adjusting to living with his Aunt Taylor, if that is not enough, his best friend is sick, cannot walk and is frequently in the hospital. He is saddened that he has nothing to cherish of his parents. While going through an old trunk in the attic of the inn, Taylor finds a letter from her mother written to her when she was 7 along with quilt pieces for a forgotten unfinished quilt her mother started for her long ago. She decides to use the quilt pieces along with some fabric from Eli's parents clothing and make a memory quilt to help Eli remember his parents. Reese is bitter and struggles to forgive and finally seeks God for answers that can lead to healing. Taylor has griefs and struggles of her own, but relies on God for strength and guidance.
Eli is bubbly most of the time and those around him cannot help but be drawn into his joy. As he adjusts to his new home, his Aunt and Uncle are drawn to each other. Can there be healing for them as they turn to God for that healing and in their love for Eli?
Another great book by Loree Lough! A wonderful story about how life can change in an instant, bring loss, tragedy, heartache; the importance to cling to the love of family and to cherish them, and the love of God can bring healing, peace and joy. I enjoyed this book so much, love Eli and his spirit despite all he has gone through in his young life.

Anne Baxter CampbellWillows, CAAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Love Story with a Twist of KidApril 10, 2013Anne Baxter CampbellWillows, CAAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I loved this one--4.5 thumbs UP! Way to go, Loree Lough!
You take your average countrified childless widow, one jilted uncle/pediatrician, and one small orphan that both of them love to distraction, and it adds up to quite a stew.
Eli (the small orphan) has had more tragedy than most people experience in a lifetime. First his dad is killed in Afganistan. Then his mom dies. And his best friend can't walk and gets sick way too easy.
The will says Aunt Taylor has custody of Eli, and Uncle Reese is totally unhappy with that decision. He's mad at her even though she's the one who suggests he should get Eli every other weekend. Even though she shares the time with Eli and even invites him to join them for meals and events. Even though she's smart and pretty and generous and sweet. Sweet smelling, too.
And then there's this famous country-western singer who's hanging around way too much at Taylor's bed-and-breakfast. Reese doesn't like that, either.
Hmm. I wonder what's happening here? Wanta find out? Maybe you should buy a copy, what do you think?
