This movie was interesting and inspiring even to my young children. The story was a little choppy with time lapses that were hard to mark but other than that it was beautiful. It was very educational to them showing them a different life and different culture yet the faith remains the same. The children were especially impressed by the showing of pictures of the "real people" at the end. Knowing that it was based on a true story really changed it from "just a movie" to something more. You will not be disappointed.

Need a boost in your faith life? Are you looking for a new source of inspiration? I highly recommend viewing the film "Faith Like Potatoes"!

Released in the US in April of 2009, Faith Like Potatoes tells the true life story of South African farmer Angus Buchan. Buchan, a transplanted Scotsman, is forced to move his family from their successful farm in Zambia to South Africa, due to civil unrest and violence. Starting over from scratch, Buchan must work tot rebuild his farm and his family in their new location.

Through a series of trials and seemingly insurmountable losses, Buchan begins to slip to pressures of the life he is facing. Through an extraordinary series of events, Buchan is brought face to face with his faith. As he begins to turn to a new way of living, Buchan learns the keys to healing, acceptance and seeing miracles arrive in his life.

The film includes some breathtaking cinematography shot on location in South Africa. The story moves along nicely, and the acting performances are great, particularly Frank Rautenbach as Angus Buchan. For an American viewer, the South African dialects (most of the cast are South African actors) and slang may take one a few minutes to adjust.

But the true brilliance of this movie is the life story that it tells. Angus Buchan has lived an incredible live that has been truly touched by God. The message of hope in the midst of trials depicted here is life-changing.

Angus Buchan's story is given more exposure in the 54 minute documentary that is included on the disc. The documentary itself is possibly even more powerful than the movie. Angus Buchan continues as a Christian crusader to this day. More information about his ministry can be found at: www.shalomtrust.co.za.

If you are looking to be moved by a movie, to be inspired rather than just entertained, I highly recommend choosing Faith Like Potatoes.

A must see, but one needs to also watch the documentary under special features. Here you get to hear from the real Agnus Buchan, and see his heart, and why God has used him so greatly. I would rate the documentary at the same level, as he relives each of his faithful moments in the movie.

    God Bless, Brian

Faith like potatoes is a true, inspiring story about a farmer's faith journey. I highly recommend it to everyone that wants to be inspired to go further with God. Not recommended for small children because of a rather bloody scene where a little boy dies, but other than that - worth seeing. I have seen this movie three times and have been inspired every time!

I watch it with my daughter and I loved this dvd. The change in the main charecter was believeable. His manner of dress and behavior changed as his faith grew.
