Apologia's Zoology 1 Junior Notebooking Journal provides grade-appropriate activities specifically geared towards younger students who aren't as advanced in their writing abilities. Almost the same length as the regular journal, the notebooking pages are designed to suit students struggling with their handwriting and writing skills; dashed writing lines, cut-and-paste, coloring pages, and fewer writing activities make the junior notebooking journal perfect for struggling older students or easily adaptable for younger K-3 grades.
Coloring pages, scripture copywork, "fly higher" ideas, diagrams to label, word bank/fill-in-the-blank, book suggestions, and other fun lapbooking pages are included, as well as full-color minibooks. A fantastic way to accompany the sold-separately Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day: Exploring Creation with Zoology 1. 224 non-reproducible pages plus 57-page full-color section. Spiral bound, softcover.

Jennifer Tonak5 Stars Out Of 5Great student workbookJanuary 21, 2015Jennifer TonakQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I would definitely recommend purchasing the student book to go with the textbook. It has a lesson plan in it, and it has all the activity pages. It also allows for additions and customizing to your child. Great purchase. I will continue to purchase the student books with the Apologia Curriculum.

However, when I went to read it to my 2nd grader and Kindergartner, their eyes glazed over with all the big words. I was stumbling trying to say the words correctly, too!! :)
So, I think we're just going to put it away for now and come back to it when they get older. Meanwhile, they love to look at the pictures!!

I especially love that there are many colored pages included as well so that it is not just a simple black and white notebook.
Raising 3 boysAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5This is a great addition to the textJuly 19, 2013Raising 3 boysAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5This Notebooking Journal looks like it will be easy to use with the textbook. It has coloring pages, activity pages and places to record your experiments. I will say that if you are looking at the Lapbook to go with the text they both cover the same things. I purchased both and will use a little of one and the other but you don't need both.
