Science is an intimidating subject for me. Trying to teach the subject to my kids, therefore, is often overwhelming. It's hard to find material that doesn't have to be modified for a home school setting, is affordable and is easily taught. This Anatomy and Physiology book fits that criteria perfectly. It's completely based on God as the creator and is a dream to read and work through. I highly recommend you purchase the journal as well. The journal has a schedule for working through the book in twenty weeks. Both products are written for understanding rather then a read and regurgitate method. My kids, ages 11, 8 and 5, love doing science and it's only because of this book. I can't wait to do the other books with them!

I like all of Apologia material. It's modern yet gives grade/age appropriate material. My 10 1/2 yo has enjoyed working through this book; she's doing the labs/experiments w/ out local co-op. I appreciate how the material points to God and His creation. Each book Apologia allows for tailoring to your childs needs.

We really love this science curriculum! It has an engaging, easy to read and understand text, nice pictures, and the "Try This" activities and experiments are simple to set up and use things I usually have in my home. This text is written from a Christian perspective and so honor and recognition of God and His creation are given throughout. Also, I appreciate that this anatomy and physiology text is written appropriately for a wide range of ages so both my 10 year-old and 6 year-old can listen to and understand the lessons. Teacher preperation is minimal - I only look ahead to see if I have the appropriate materials on hand to do the experiments. Excellent curriculum.

My kids were really engaged in this curriculum. After all, it is about our bodies, which we live with every single day. I really enjoyed learning facts about the body that I didn't know, especially things that would be impossible from a secular evolutionary perspective. I loved that there were Bible verses and creation understanding well incorporated into the curriculum. I think there was a bit too much technical vocabulary for my kids, but I'm not super picky about them learning all those words. (Especially words and terms most adults don't know!) A child who really loves knowing new words and knowing what things are called would eat this up! My kids are 12 and 9 and we did this curriculum together. I don't know what it is about science experiments, but they never turn out. We only did the most simplistic of the experiments. If it requires gathering supplies or measuring anything or several days of observation, we're not doing it. (BTW, any experiment that requires several days should be given at the beginning of the unit, not at the end when we're already moving onto a new concept).
