Homeschool Specialists' Review
The elementary level is designed for kindergarten through grade 6, and some of the activities also offer different versions for younger or older students so you can customize it for your child. There are notebooking journals available that include all the questions from the textbook and additional exercises, such as crossword puzzles, to reinforce the lessons. We used the notebooking journal, as well as a junior notebooking journal for younger students not as proficient in reading and writing.
My favorite part of this book is the experiments and hands-on activities. Who wouldn't love to build a rocket or create a cloud? (And we're talking a real cloud, not a cotton ball cloud!) It even includes the classic "burn a leaf with a magnifying glass" activity. All three of my younger brothers used this book, and when I asked them about it, they responded, "It was awesome!" All in all, a wonderful and informative textbook! 176 pages, hardcover from Apologia.
Jas5 Stars Out Of 5I love it!February 23, 2015JasI love this curriculum. We are only in about 3 lessons but it keeps the kids interested. Astronomy is amazing as it is but this explains it in a way that they can understand and find interesting. The activities are not difficult (at least this far). We purchased the journals with it which has been helpful for my nine and 6 year old:) I will definitely be continuing this apologia series.
Mrs Y3 Stars Out Of 5Information needs updatedFebruary 20, 2015Mrs YQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3This book is a great starting point for children starting their journey in astronomy. However, we found some of the information was outdated and occasionally incorrect. We completed our studies and look forward to the publisher and author creating an updated edition. You can search online for errors in this text to update the information you provide to your students while teaching. It simply takes a little extra time.
This text is wording is friendly for teaching multiple children of different age groups during the same lesson.
I highly recommend purchasing the notebooking journals with this product.
Linda5 Stars Out Of 5Exploring Creation with AstronomyJanuary 22, 2015LindaMy son and I love this book. We are using it as a supplement to science for homeschooling but also used it to make a science project on the solar system. There's a lot of info, but it's easy to read and absorb. It's great how the author proves creation with facts about the solar system.
Excellent curriculum5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent for Elementary gradesDecember 19, 2014Excellent curriculumMy two daughters, ages 10 and 8 love this curriculum. I recommend the note booking journal and jr. note booking journal. The activities are very age appropriate and fun! I have 4 children, 3 at different homeschooling grades, and this works well for our family!

The text is presented in a way that is interesting, easy to understand, yet challenging too. I love that my children are learning about science from a Christian perspective, and they can see how an awesome Creator designed it! The accompanying journal notebook is a great way for children to record what they learned and enjoyed most; you can choose how many activities you want to use.
Q: does this curriculum come with tests?

Tell us a little about yourself. My name is Jeannie Fulbright. I am a veteran homeschooling mom with four children. I am a graduate of the University of Texas. Though I minored in science, my emphasis was in writing. I write for many homeschool publications. I also speak at homeschool conferences and smaller homeschool groups. My husband and I live with our family in Georgia.
What was your motivation behind this project? The Lord placed upon my heart a calling to write this series when I couldn't find Charlotte Mason style "living books" that taught science from the Biblical Creationist perspective. I also wanted science to be easier to fit into a busy homeschooling day. One only needs to pick up the book and begin reading; no teacher's manual, no additional resources are needed. One book is all the whole family needs to become amateur astronomers!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that Christians will be blessed by the God-glorifying text that continually points them to their Creator. I pray that students will be grounded in a the thoroughly biblical worldview presented throughout this book. My dream is that the solid foundation formed and the strengthening of their faith through this will arm students to be defenders of the faith as they enter the battle zone.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? This book was written to give homeschool parents a way to teach in-depth creation science to all their children at once. My desire was to write a book that you could cuddle up on the couch with and read to every elementary student in your home at once. The older students will grasp more than the younger students; but they will all learn and enjoy science at their own level. And the information is interesting enough for even high school students to learn (mom and dad too!). The text is written in a conversational style that is engaging to the reader. Concepts such as nuclear fusion are explained in a way that even a five year old could understand. And what a delight to hear your five year old explaining to his grandparents how nuclear fusion is evidence for Creation! The activities are often separated between younger students and older students. Every lesson begins with reading from the text. After that the child works on his notebook, which is essentially the creating of his own astronomy book. Then a creative exercise to help with retention is introduced. Every lesson ends with a relevant hands-on project. Spending your science year studying astronomy will both challenge and bless your family. Your students will come away with a deeper understanding of God's universe and the evidence therein for Creation. Your faith will be strengthened as you see God's perfect design and the beauty He placed in His starry hosts. Dr. Jay Wile, my editor and publisher, has done an excellent job of tightening up all scientific concepts and making the book beautiful.
