We bought this bible as a "first time" bible for our 7 year old son. The lay out of the bible was easy for him to read because of the colorful headings and spacing of the words. This bible isn't chaotic looking and we found that our other son with dyslexia (8 yrs old) favors this bible because of the crip and clean look of the scriptures set up on the pages. If you want a Bible that doesn't have a lot of distracting things all over the pages and with a few beautiful pictures, than this is a wonderful Bible for your child!

Bought it for grand daughter. Was just what was advertised and came quickly. I had no expectations that it would last a life time, but get her throughuntil she's ready for a grown up bible. I think this will meet the case but time will tell.

Last year I bought The Children's ESV Bible for one of my kids. This year I came back to get a copy for another child, so they'd match when we read together. I could tell from the picture that the cover had been updated, but I did not expect the contents/quality to have changed. On the good side, there are some new maps that are pretty cool. The art work is formatted differently, but basically the same. On the bad side, the pages feel like newspaper. Hopefully the paper is much more durable than newsprint, but it still does not have the slick "Bible paper" feel. If I had seen the product in person and been able to thumb through it I probably would have picked something else, perhaps tried a TruTone kids Bible, since this edition doesn't exactly match the previous edition anyway.
