PresbymanDeFuniak Springs, FLAge: 45-54Gender: male2 Stars Out Of 5Evangelical/Conservative Perspectives AbsentMarch 1, 2013PresbymanDeFuniak Springs, FLAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1Some of the essays contained in this book are well written and interesting. There are some well regarded scholars included: Frank Matera, Terence Fretheim, and Luke Timothy Johnson. There is a spectrum of writers from the Protestant, Catholic and Jewish traditions. But contrary to the blurb, it is hard to discern any "modern conservative and evangelical" contributions in the book. There is nothing in here by respected evangelical scholars such as D.A Carson, Richard Longenecker, Craig Blomberg, Andreas Kostenberger, etc.
At best, a few writers might be considered centrist or slightly traditionalist in their perspectives. But in my reading, most of the writers lean heavily to the left side of the religious spectrum.
This book reflects a liberal's view of "diversity," with views ranging from the middle of the road to the far Left. I feel I was misled in ordering this book.
