What Are You Missing?
Peter Scazzero learned the hard way: you cant be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Even though Pete was pastor of a rapidly growing church, he did what most people do:
- avoid conflict in the name of Christianity
- ignore his anger, sadness, and fear
- use God to run from God
- live without boundaries
Eventually God awakened him to a biblical integration of emotional health, a profound relationship with Jesus, and the historical practices of contemplative spirituality. It created nothing short of a spiritual revolution, utterly transforming him and his church.
In this best-selling book Pete outlines his journey and the signs of emotionally unhealthy spirituality. Then he provides seven biblical, reality-tested ways to break through to the revolutionary life Christ meant for you. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality is presently used in more than twenty-six countries to equip churches in a deep, beneath-the-surface spiritual formation paradigm that truly transforms lives.
Peter Scazzero is the founder of New Life Fellowship Church in Queens, NYC, a large, multiracial church with more than seventy-three countries represented. After serving as senior pastor for twenty-six years, Pete is now a teaching pastor/pastor-at-large. He is the author of two best-selling books: The Emotionally Healthy Church and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. He is also the author of The EHS Course and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day.

toobizzyMiddletown, NYAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A very needed and honest perspective ~~ EXCELLENT!July 17, 2013toobizzyMiddletown, NYAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is a blessing! The author/pastor is honest and personally transparent in a very endearing way, making his topic and presentation easy to read and follow.
Getting to know ourselves better, and being able to trust God with ways in which we could use help to grow and become more fully ourselves, and more fully His, is an exciting process,... one that will endure for a lifetime.
This book is dense/packed with information, concepts, many references, suggestions and examples of ways to proceed in "growing a life" that is more emotionally honest and more fully centered on God.
It is beautiful ~~ pointing to time-honored ways of bringing our lives and hearts closer to God, while incorporating the freshness of "being real" about who we are, and how we find ourselves, in the "here and now."
Pastor Scazzero makes himself a very humble "Exhibit A" in exposing many things we are all prone to do and feel. Maturing emotionally and spiritually, and finding God's "joy and peace" therein, is the goal.
Great book on a great topic.

The author holds in a very good balance the emotional and spiritual dimensions of life and gives some practical applications and tools to understand how to sort out the emotional and grow in the Spiritual. Unlike a lot of Evangelicals like myself, the book goes deep into the spiritual Masters of the past and shows us how these important truths are so relevant to the present.
