Product Description

Where Are the Truth-Tellers?

Our world is facing serious problems that pose genuine threats to our safety, our economy, our health, and our very survival. Sadly, partisanship and allegiances to special interests are preventing our nation from taking the needed action on such matters.

And where is the church at this perilous time in history? Instead of proclaiming God's wisdom on the issues of our day, many of us are either too blinded by political affiliations or too afraid to let our voices be heard.

While resisting the predictable labels of Democrat and Republican, Bishop George Bloomer holds both sides accountable by boldly examining some of the most polarizing yet important issues of our time:
  • Abortion
  • Poverty and income inequality
  • Gay marriage
  • Racial relations
  • War and the military-industrial complex
  • Gun control
Christians will never succeed in impacting the culture if they remain emasculated by political correctness and afraid to speak the truth. Change is possible only when brave and audacious men and women are willing to confront evil and injustice through their words and their actions.

Editorial Reviews

Every retail book outlet is overflowing with volumes of self-help strategies promising to make your life better, easier, calmer, slimmer and less stressful. If it is that type of milquetoast pabulum you seek, very quickly, put this book back on the shelf. This is a manifesto for believers everywhere, urging them to become involved in redemptive engagement in the current war of ideas that must be waged. And that war must be won to counteract a corrupt culture that is in danger of complete collapse by implosion. Drawing upon personal experience, current events, and the wisdom of the ages, Bishop George Bloomer tackles the thorniest issues of our time with equal measures of boldness and grace. He makes no apologies for offending both sides of the political and ideological spectrum. He confronts issues that have permeated a contrary culture, and, at the same time, challenges the church to arise from its slumber to become the salt and light God created it to be. The church is nothing unless and until it becomes an agent of culturally incorrect redemptive change! Elephants in the Church is not intended to allow you to ignore injustice nor turn away from issues of righteousness. Its purpose is not to pacify you, but to provoke you to rigorous introspection and righteous action.
—Rod Parsley, World Harvest Church, Columbus, Ohio, Host, Breakthrough with Rod Parsley

Bishop Bloomer takes on a series of subjects that are often ignored by the body of Christ. He offers tremendous insight, while always using the Word of God as a foundation. Issues like gay marriage, welfare, women’s rights, and gun control are not always black and white but include many shades of gray. Bishop navigates these with love, compassion, and an insightfulness in a way that is both refreshing and thought provoking.
—Paul Crouch Jr., Director of Project Development, The Word Network

There are only two places where elephants exist: in the wild and in the captivity of a zoo or circus. In the wild, the elephant operates by natural intent, as God created it; in captivity, it is reduced to performing. The church has become acquainted with mass performances, susceptible to the tricks of the ringmasters in a three-circus. Bishop George Bloomer’s book, Elephants in the Church, exposes the church—the performing elephant—and places it back into its natural habitat and rightful position. Once again, Bishop George Bloomer nails it. Every believer should read this book.
—Jamal Bryant, Jamal Bryant Ministries, Pastor, The Empowerment Temple, Baltimore, Maryland

Outside the mainstream, outside the Big Apple, outside the box, Bishop George Bloomer is a fresh thinker, a truth seeker, and a genuine visionary. Listen to him. He is transparent; his life is one triumph over another. His fingers are firmly placed on the pulse of what we must know to confront the "elephants" coming toward us in our future. Elephants in the Church is a best-seller must read!
—Eldrin Bell, Former chairman, Clayton County Board of Commissioners, Former Atlanta Police Chief

"Bishop Bloomer provides important insight regarding the ’elephants’ of race and human dignity that are still challenges for people of color and faith in our country."
—Michael McBride, Director, Urban Strategies and Lifelines to Healing, Berkeley, California
